V for Vendetta (another right film at the right time?)
another under the radar work what suddenly seems very prohpetic. Another movie that seems to speak to where we are and what we are facing. Anyone heard anything about this film coming out in march?

Pretty big names...aweful big message from the looks of it.

1. Based on a great graphic novel
Writen by Alan Moore (Watchmen, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, From Hell) and drawn by David Lloyd.

Uber-producer Joel Silver pissed off Mr. Moore by falsely claiming Mr. Moore had given some sort of praise for the project. Silver refused to retract his lie.

Book was done back in the 80's. Great read. Unfortunately, Hollywood doesn't really know how to do Mr. Moore's books well so far.

2. just found some of the lines from the trailer to be
very scary... Give up your freedom to be safe etc...and it appears to challenge some of our pat answers about terrorism. I'm going to look forward to this.

5. Get the book! The movie will never be as good
I guess it could be argued that it has a chance to be good since the Wachowski Brothers are okay when they steal from a great source like Harlan Ellison, and here they are adapting a great work. Maybe. Hopefully.

If you want the book, here's links to a really good small company:

for the hardcover (orig. $29.99, now $20.99)

4. Looks like it's already causing some controversy
and the concept is pissing off some freeps who are jumping right back to the "It's NOT THAT BAD HERE!"

Wonder how many will continue to post that tripe after Bush's declairation of King status today?

6. It's getting great reviews at advance screenings
I liked the Alan Moore comic book when I read it many years ago, and I look forward to the movie.
