Hillary Clinton said that Bush Mismanaged the War...is that a criticism
Edited on Sat Dec-17-05 10:54 AM by xultar
of the war? Apparently some people think Hillary has never criticised the war or *. WHY because if they did then they couldn't HATE her so much.

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/11/29/ap/politics/mainD8E6EHEG6.shtml

When she said she took responsibility for her vote she's not defending it she's taking responsibility. Taking responsibility is a good thing people!!! Don't we always yell @ * for not taking responsibility but when a Dem does it is a bad thing right?

Please read the story....then you'll understand...GEEZ people.

2. You're right and you know what. We don't fucking deserve her.
Why because the little wonders here are allowing the right wing to steer them just like they did with Clark.

So fuck'em.

6. You mean steer the Dems toward Clinton like they were
steered away from Clark (because the media ignored him, nearly completely, from December 2004 on)?

But, to be clear, I don't dislike Hillary. She sometimes makes me cringe when she starts courting the right-wing, but my biggest complaint with her is that she can't flip any red states, thus ensuring that she won't win a national election.

10. I can't say I disagree with you about her not being able to flip red state
minds but she sure would have the Black vote.

We love her. And if the Dems do not get a candiate who can bring out the Black vote by
exciting us then there is no way in hell we will win anywaze.

That is exactly what happend to Kerry.

15. Black people in my area were HUGE Clark supporters
last year - you're a Clark lover, aren't you?

I was just wondering if Clark was as popular in every black community like he was here. I mean, here, you couldn't drive down the road in the predominately African-American side of town without seeing a Clark sign stuck in nearly every yard on every car and in every shop window. It was HEAVEN for me. :) I always assumed Clark was so popular with black voters because of his stances on affirmative action and the fact that so many people of color who served of him adored him.

But, why does the black voter love Hillary? I can understand their love for Bill, but Hillary isn't Bill.

I'm genuinely curious about this - this is the first I've heard that she has a good deal of support in the black community, so if you could expand on this, I want to listen.

Thanks!

made me so embarrassed to be black. OMFG I could have walked around and smacked all the mutherfukers up-side the head.

Wow where do you live. I should move there! Maybe it is the people that I hang around with but I know the sistahs find her to be a strong educated woman and she's tough and we respect that. I think she has credibility also because of Bill.

18. Wow!! That's a shocker!!
I'm in the South and black people here can't STAND Bush - not even the evangelicals.

Here's a picture from the front page of the local newspaper - that's one of our biggest Baptist ministers in the black community with Clark (and that white chick in the background is little ole me. :) )

24. Yeah - and you've got Diebold machines all over the
friggin' place.

I remember when Georgia was known for being the birthplace of one of the most benevolent, peaceful and intelligent presidents - not for inciting races against people with same-sex preferences and waiving the Stars and Bars all over. Heck, I'm beginning to think that Knoxville - once known as the most conservative city in the South - is becoming more liberal than Atlanta. Which is sad, actually.

3. Not a criticism of the war.
It doesn't address the nature of the reasoning behind acceptance of "pre-emptive war" and its flawed concepts. That's why I can't vote for dems that use this way of talking.

5. Sorry, but I can't be changed from my position.
Edited on Sat Dec-17-05 11:12 AM by mmonk
My dad fought Nazi Germany and part of his legacy was the establishment of the international recognized concept that "pre-emptive war or aggressive war" is a crime. The concept that criticizing the "management" of war without criticizing the underlying precept of it doesn't address it.

8. I'm not trying to change your position...it just seems you won't be
voting for nearly anyone and we need your votes. Seems that you'd rather not have any Dems in office. That's pretty sad to go with the status quo rather than getting them out so we can fix what's going on.

20. Sorry damned article calls her "hawkish?" What part of
"A vote for (the IWR) is not a vote to rush to war; it is a vote that puts awesome responsibility in the hands of our President and we say to him - use these powers wisely and as a last resort..." do people have a lot of trouble understanding? That's how she explained her vote as she cast it. You don't like her explanation? Read Kerry's statements, or Edwards', or Clark's. She was the least hawkish of the bunch.
http://clinton.senate.gov/speeches/iraq_101002.html

She did not vote for war, her vote was not a "pro-war" vote, and she isn't hawkish. She voted the way she thought would avoid the war. Again, for those not paying attention who jump on the boat late and wonder why it wobbles--Bush had declared he should invade right then, without UN or Congressional approval. He declared that he had the authority to do so. The IWR was an attempt by some to slow Bush down.

I want to pimp-slap every damn DUer who falls for this Republican-led media-driven nonsense meant only to derail Clinton before 2008. Then again, I shouldn't be surprised. Some people claimed that Gore was too conservative until the day he declared he wouldn't run again, then the very same DUers who literally the day before were claiming Gore was a DINO DLCer began claiming that the DLC had forced the liberal champion Gore out of the race (and I mean LITERALLY the same people). These are the same people in spirit as those who turned on Kerry, who declare him a conservative, who claim he's not doing anything to fight Bush.

Now Clinton. We are doing the Republican's work for them, and I don't get why. All it takes is a little bit of research to see that Clinton has attacked Bush all over since day one. On Halliburton, on the environment, on abortion, on labor, on Civil Rights and Affirmative Action. Damn. Some "Democrats" won't be satisfied until we run someone like Kucinich and get 20% of the vote.

I'll state it plainly. I trust Clinton and her liberal creds. I don't trust those who are attacking her.

21. She's full of it -- She believed Bush because she wanted to
Edited on Sat Dec-17-05 12:19 PM by Armstead
This war was based on a series of lies. It did not take a rocket scientist to figure that out from the beginning.

When Bush said to Congress "Give me the authority to go to war, but I will go through the UN instead of using that power," anyone who has been payng attention would have figured out it was a complete CON Job.

So there are two possibilities. Either Hillary was dumber than the millions of people who knew better at the time....or she was being "political" and trying to straddle the fence instead of taking a principled stand.

It would be forgivable if she had acknowledged her mistake more clearly before now and stopped propping up the continuing disinformation campaign and enabling the quagmire.

We don't need that kind of waffling and indirction anymore.

It's not about management. Right is not a lesser degree of wrong.
