did anyone see bush talking to jim lehrer on NPR?
i think he was trying to defend his having authorized spying on americans...he blinked his eyes quite so a few times (a signal that he was feeling distressed?) and tried to explain that in order to defend the security of americans he would do anything it took while being mindful of people's civil liberties. the man was lying through his ass, and him lehrer just cuddled him like a parent cuddles a new born babe.

:grr: :grr: :nuke:

1. I've said it before and I'll say it again...the only thing shrubby uses
the Constitution for is to wipe his ass. "Civil liberties"?? Please don't insult our intelligence.

9. a blow job in the oval office is not high treason. spying on americans,
lying to them time and time again, being complicit in the perpetration of 9/11, outing a CIA agent, etc., etc., etc. IS!

Bush needs to go!

spying on Americans and they know it. Yet, they won't say a thing about Pinhead** doing it. :argh:

24. Bush interview was a nonstarter
Edited on Fri Dec-16-05 11:33 PM by Rodger Dodger
When Jim Lear was asking G.W. serious questions that could have been answered easily without damaging US security. Bush equivocated, obfuscated, deflected, or ignored the question entirely. Like, Roger Dangerfield, Jim didn't get "No respect." G.W. not a king:he's only, yes only, the president. He's acting as if he is a CEO.

After the fifth question, asked by Jim, was not answered: Jim should have told GW... Since I'm not going to get a candid answer on this list of important questions I'm obliged to ask on behalf of the PBS listeners. I'll save you, your time, and mine, and leave, the room leaving him there facing the running camera.

Jim should have ignored him. Ya know - like governments do: when others don't live up their expectations. After all where would G.W. be without the Press, and media?

The "power to ignore" is the strongest non violent response, any person, government, or group can exercise against another. That's how conservitive governments deal with the problem of poverty; they simply ignor the problem.

25. i wonder how bush would have handled the "ignore" thing ...
he is very narcissistic, i know you know...and demands that he be treated like a god, i also know you know...but i do agree with you, lehrer should have pointed out what was clear for everyone to see and that is that bush was not giving him any candid answers at all. it might have passed the gagging on to bush, rather than to rest of us who gagged and gagged seeing bush just lie, and lie, and lehrer just let him lie and lie.

More importantly, why didn't Lehrer ask him that?

3. I didn't see that
but I did see Lehrer with Rumsfeld recently and noticed how Lehrer went along with the lie that the Newsweek story should have been retracted about the Koran.

Makes his Newshour pretty worthless IMO.

7. lehrer has been giving passess to the bushes ever since way back,
including since way back during the 2000 presidential debates and the one he moderated. Al Gore was about to nail the bushboy and lehrer asked to keep himself to the terms agreed to for the debate. If i can locate the exact exchange i am referring to, i will post it here... it had something to do with bush having said something that al gore gave a response to and bush then complaining to lehrer that gore was judging his soul or something like that. for months i kept a copy of that exchange because i thought lehrer shouldn't have stopped gore from saying what he needed to say, but he did, and it made me angry and proved what i knew, and that was that lehrer was and is a bush shill.

I realized that I haven't been missing anything.

is there any mainstream media news worth watching? just like the bushes all speak with the same brain but different voices, so too does the media parrot the same propaganda with different voices.

20. about the only thing I get out of it
(and I don't spend much of my time with it) is to have some idea about what news many people in the country are getting.

I don't even think KO is worth watching on a regular basis - but I know a lot of people here disagree.

It's interesting when you have more of the story and then you can see how the listeners ( who don't) are being duped. Like there was an NPR story this evening ( I don't listen to that much anymore either) about Bush and the spy thing and they discussed how McClellan was saying that Bush* didn't deny it - but said that he followed the law. What they DIDN'T say was that Bush* signed an executive order - made his own "secret" law and that is how they could say that without "completely" lying. (If they managed to get the whole story in - I missed it).

28. I remember the MacNeil, Lehrer report ... but I don't remember
MacNeil...but from what you are saying,it seems there must have been more of a balance to the MacNeil, Lehrer report than there is to the Lehrer NewsHour?

Lehrer should rename his program to, "The Lehrer Hour of Propaganda Spat".

22. Their main tactic has become total obverse denial
What do you say about all the reports and pictures of us torturing people?

We don't believe in torture. The United States doesn't stand for torture.

(Ie, they simply define anything we do as 'not torture'.)

What do you say about this new policy which even Republicans in the Senate are saying violates basic civil liberties?

We are very attentive to civil liberties.

(Except when we aren't.)

They have taken lying from a defensive tactic to an in-your-face offensive tactic.

29. they continue to assert that bush's job is to defend us from the terrorist
who wants to attack us here in the USA that is why they are fighting the terrorists abroad, that is why bush will do anything to keep us safe here (even if it means wiretaping americans) while keeping in mind the constitution and our civil liberties...

they are bullshitting their way on to total totalitarianism and america's first police state.

they lie with straight faces about the crimes they commit to please themselves and hold themselves rulers, and then tell us they are doing it for us.

they feed us a whole bunch of hogwash!

30. bush would spill the truth out so quickly ... the man is a coward who puts
up a brave face (if that is what it can be called) only when he knows no one can touch him.

I wonder how many paramilitary were guarding the studio where the interview was conducted. Or, was it conducted at the White House, which is, surrounded by paramilitaries whose duties it is to protect the little bastard who was never turned over on mommy's or poppy's knees and given a good spanking to.

32. Just READ this SHIT!
He's even stupider in black & white:

PRESIDENT BUSH: I think, well, first of all, I said 30,000, that's because it's kind of the general talk. And I don't know if we know specifically how many died. Nor do I think you don't sit around in a planning session and say, gosh, I wonder how many-- how many people are going to die because of suicide bombers or because of politics or-- I know this, that when we went in we had a plan to target the guilty and spare the innocent and with our precision weaponry and a military that is a humane group of people that we did a good job of that. But war is brutal, war is death, war is-- and I knew that going in. I just don't remember people, you know, trying to guess.

34. These people in the Bush administration
are like Mafioso thugs with college degrees. Lying is 2nd nature to them, as well as turning a question around and making the person asking the question look the some kind of "harasser". I heard Rumsfeld on NPR tonite, saying a bunch of cornball stuff that was pure fluff like "you reporters always ask what is wrong, instead of all the great things that are happening" and "you see it as the glass half empty, and I see it as half full". By golly.
