Dear Governor Dean, keep talking.
Many of us are concerned about the reaction this time from our Democrats. They have been forced to show their true colors about Iraq this time. In order to silence and critique what you said, they have shown their own weak stands.

It is not just the reaction from Democrats this time. Online media pundits who usually respect truth are acting almost as belligerent as the usual suspect media. Bloggers on our side are being very cautious about touching this issue, sort of waiting for the word from higher up as to how to react.

The right wing talking heads are even more vicious this time around, even coming out with suggestions that you be put to death.

You touched a real nerve this time when you compared this to the stubborn way our leaders handled Vietnam. It really got down into some consciences. We will not win, we will keep losing lives on both sides. They know it, and they can not admit it.

Sometimes when things are said bluntly they have more power than when said so cautiously. I think that some had their thunder stolen, and they got caught defending this war when they should not have.

So keep on, even with all the letters from the left as well. You know the ones saying that since you have not solved all the problems that they won't donate. They will wait until the party is fixed, and every issue is dealt with.

The truth said imperfectly is still truth, and sometimes is more effective in the long run. We are not going to win, everyone knows it. We need to get out as soon as we can, that is known as well. They are blaming you for putting our troops in danger, instead of holding accountable the ones who sent them there for no reason.

2. waiting until the party is completely fixed is very convienent
I can basically keep my money. Which I probably like better than giving away anyway. And I don't have to feel guilty about being a cheap bastard, because if they would just be perfect, I would give them some money.

8. I don't think many realize the implications of this week.
I really don't. When you make sure to humiliate those who speak truth, then it is easy to go ahead with an agenda of lies.

I think most see it as Howard Dean not speaking correctly. That scares me. He said a clear truth.

And it is not just the usual suspects this time, it is even more Democrats doing it.

The implications are that we are not going to leave Iraq. That the voices of the people on the war are not going to be heard even by our own party.

5. Another thing that disturbs me... saying only veterans have credibility.
I get tired of hearing that. I can tell when a lie is being told just as well as a military person can. I have just as much credibility as anyone in the military when it comes to seeing truth.

I saw the lies, so many here did. But it is easier to kill the messenger than to hear the hard truth. Murtha and Pelosi are being pounded pretty hard on this as well. Murtha has cred for sure, and Pelosi does.

Those who tell the truth do not have to be military, and when did all that get started.

6. Yes, agree. He hasn't been wrong yet on Iraq, and that's the test.
Howard Dean has been proven to be out there in front and RIGHT again and again.

He simply says it before anyone else does and he takes all the body blows for it.

Please remember that not too many Dems felt "safe" criticizing this administration or this ridiculous "war" before Howard went out and noisily blazed a trail for them.

Keep talkin' Good Doctor, we're counting on you!

7. It showed the real stance of my senator, and it bothers me.
"Dan McLaughlin, A Spokesman For Sen. Bill Nelson (D-FL): "The Senator Disagrees With Mr. Dean, And He Also Feels In Regard To Establishing A Timetable For Troop Withdrawal That Is Not The Way To Go. ... At This Point, The Long-Term National Security Interest Are Paramount Issues, And Cutting And Running In Iraq Is Not The Solution." (Rowan Scarborough and Donald Lambro, "Dean Doubts U.S. Win In Iraq," The Washington Times, 12/7/05)"

http://washingtontimes.com/national/20051207-123327-9419r.htm

He had been very non-committal until now. Maybe this is for the best, to have it happen like this. Those who have no intention of our leaving are now showing up with their views.

9. My point is made for me by Zinn today. He says Dean is too silent.
"Zinn: If I were Nancy Pelosi I would certainly say to my fellow Democrats, "If we want to win the next election we better get with the American people, they're way ahead of us. The American people are forthrightly against the war and we're forthrightly about ." The American people are much more bold and forthright. If I were any Democratic leader, if I were Howard Dean - who unfortunately has been the kind of silent head of the Democratic National Committee - I would say to my fellow Democrats, wake up. If you don't give the American people what the American people want, then you are going to go down in history as a party that loses and loses and loses."

The "silent head"? Where you been, Zinn.
