60% of Iraqis want U.S. to stay until situation is "more stable"
Turns out most Iraqis do not want to the U.S. to leave a.s.a.p. (well, depending on what your interpretation of "a.s.a.p." is).

"A private Iraqi poll this week found that nearly 100 percent of Iraqis want U.S.-led coalition troops to leave Iraq. Forty percent said "immediately," but 60 percent said foreign troops should stay until Iraq is more stable."

1. If I Were Them I'd Want Them To Stay For A Bit Longer Too,
But just with a better plan and strategy, and without all the ancillary damage.

7. Well, I'm not going to say either poll is valid or invalid.
I honestly don't know.

This one is the most recent one there (whatever it's worth), and the questions are not precisely worded the same as in the previous poll. Perhaps that has something to do with it.

13. I'm sure it's next to impossible to get a representative sample
with the country in the condition it's in. Nonetheless, I wouldn't believe a word out of MSNBC. They've been war cheerleaders from day one, and failed to even acknowledge the story on the British poll.

8. wow, that didn't sound like propaganda.
sheesh.

also, why quote a "private poll" without reference? for all we know, he polled all the Iraqis in the hotel bar?

who ran the poll?

since reporters don't leave the green zone or their hotel, how representative are the people he's talking to?

18. If it was propaganda, there'd be a lot more than 60% wanting them to stay.
Plus there'd be a lot more wanting them to stay indefinately.

24. the propaganda part isn't the poll, its the unnamed Iraqis praising
Bush.

Besides, a poll that says more want us to stay longer still permits permanent bases.

23. Hhhhhmmmmm...
Sounds so different from that other poll where 82% wants us out and 45% say its ok to shoot American soldiers. Also, we've been getting all the election coverage and rosey outlooks from the media all of the sudden. Given the media's track record, don't mind me if I take it all with a grain of salt. And don't mind me if I have a problem with "pre-emptive' war and occupations and dishonest reasons, and our rogue status according to international law.
