You mention in your editorial that the Patriot Act has been an effective tool in the war on terrorism, but I can't recall a single instance in which this administration has been successful in prosecuting this war. Just recently, you were forced to release Jose Padilla from his enemy combatant's nowhereland into the criminal justice system where the government has no choice but to be accountable for its actions. Your case against the scholar from Florida, whose name I can't recall, seems to have unraveled. The Lackawanna Six case went nowhere.

How exactly has the Patriot Act been effective?
