hubby is suggesting doing a windows update if you have windows. go into tools and do a windows update. there are websites you can be directed to where someone can take control of your computer

9. Patching windoz security holes is a full time job... about 4/mo on avg.
So telling folks to go "update" is like saying be sure to brush your teeth when you go to bed. It just something that everybody does.

8. Already did. Still beta testing, after all these years.
Using the Firefox web browser instead of MS Internet Exploder will save you from the risks presented by many of these threats.

I can just about tell when it's Tuesday anymore; that's when the critical update notifications begin arriving.

11. Glaring security flaw
I recently cracked Windows with a small file name ROCK.OBJ. ROCK.OBJ was very effective, in spite of all the panes Windows took to block the attack. Really, it was a silly exploit.

13. My XP Pro security center alerted me to this today. Thanks for notifying
everyone who might not have gotten the warning. I set my security center to notify me of updates rather than auto download so I have some control over what M$ installs.

My security setup isas follows -

Firewall:
ProZoneAlarm Pro version:6.1.737.000
TrueVector version:6.1.737.000
Driver version:6.1.737.000

AVG Pro 7.1.371 for anti virus.

Also forward port 113 to 113 on my wireless router to keep my computer as invisible as possible to scanners.

Go to 'shieldsup'

https://grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2

and run a complete port scan to see if you need to tweak anything - it's how I learned to port forward port 113.
