I'm tired of tookie, and this is not "tookie underground" and I honestly hope it doesn't become that tomorrow, good grief... Never mind tookiemania, even the death penalty itself is a side-issue compared to far bigger issues; issues being ignored in the crossfire of pro/con tookie debates. For some reason, people think that nabbing a symptom is more important than fixing the problem. Never mind how the death penalty isn't even the real reason half the time for this tookiemania... Sheesh, people have even been called RACIST solely because they are pro-death penalty or even pro-victim and not pro-tookie - that's UTTERLY ASININE.

I'm tired of air marshalls and unmedicated people who really ought to be and missing a dose is NEVER a good thing, which is why you take steps to bloody well ensure you take it. Nobody is omnipresent and as much as everybody could try, we still need to work on ourselves as well! This is loosely tied in with the above too. Fortunately, tookie took care of that. Seems the air marshall discussion was quickly shot down too...

I almost miss recurring freak shows like Michael Jackson in the GD forum. It seems the National Enquirer and this unknown organization had too, hence their clutching of straws to make a new chapter in the saga. (no wonder Jackson is contemplating suing and I hope he wins) And only those two outlets, mind you - nobody else had even a syllable to say, how very odd... :think:

Real, current, all-encompassing issues get swamped in GD because our collective "morality of the moment" seems more worthy of being given a thousand posts by a thousand people, 990 of them feel the same way. (So I do miss threads containing 500+ replied rather than 500 individual threads containing 10 replies because somebody else wants to be the center of attention...) (But we can't discuss that or even think of getting it on the front page, tookie is more important...)

Just wait until free discussions are outlawed and the way things are happening, that's really going to happen at some point too. (not that it matters, it's going to happen, so maybe I'm wrong and everyone else is right. I'm used to that too.)

So, what's going to happen by Friday that will be deserving of two thousand posts? One of the kids from "Home Improvement" (even the neighbor boy) caught in a lewd sex scandal and then whines a childhood incident made him "confused" because he's embarrassed by the media coverage and wants to look good for "da' man"?

Actually I think the death penalty is one of those big issues that are evergreen on DU. Tookiemania is just the latest incarnation of a continuing concern.

But then, I can't thread a needle anymore -- ever since I got these damn progressive lenses. Of course I'm still hoping everyone gets progressive lenses. Maybe then we'll achieve world peace.
