Rove upset at media, NBC to cover *'s day all day Monday
Brian Williams ended NBC Nightly News tonight with a plug for Monday. They plan on covering Bush's entire day through his 3rd of his 4 Iraq "speeches". They will end the day in Washington.

I guess Rove called in a few favors and twisted an arm or two after the first two failure speeches.

1. I'm so tired of these media whores
And as someone with a degree in journalism, I find it personally offensive.

The job of a true journalist is NOT to be cozy with the White House, or any other politician.

The job is to research and report the facts.

4. Sure it is, you journalist have a responsibility that comes with
your jobs and that is to get to the bottom of the situation and keep us informed as to what is actually going on on any event. This is so true when it comes to our government. You keep up the good work even if you sometimes feel alone. You are doing a vital service to your country and its citizens. thanks

8. Thank you, but...
Unfortunately, I am not really working in my field right now. I do freelance writing and journalism (mostly writing political op/eds).

But I hope to be in my field really soon.

29. My hope is with you, we, our country, needs people like you.
All I ask of a journalist is to say it as you see it. We can see through the chaff. Anyways, good Saturday morning and a great weekend with you.

31. Thank you so much! Truly appreciated
And I think you are absolutely right.

We need journalists who are dedicated to reporting the truth. They are dedicated to reporting the facts.

One of the major problems I have with many of our newspapers today, is that they are editorializing their front pages.

I have no problems with op/eds. I write a lot of political op/eds. But I think they need to be confined to the op/ed page. And many newspapers (i.e. The Washington Times) are editorializing their front pages. And their editorials are based on lies.

5. I just finished dinner and yelling at the TV
Williams promoting their coverage of Bush's 'important' speech on Monday was more ass kissing then I can take at the moment. The 5th speech this month about the same bullshit is not 'important'. Unfortunately Williams has his head so far up BushCo's butthole that he doesn't have a clue anymore.

10. Refresh my memory, pls
Wasn't Brian Williams the one that just said he thought the Administration had a right to pay for press coverage? I think I remember reading something about that?

28. I seem to recall Pinhead** making a point during his campaign '00
that he wasn't going to be on TV everyday like Clinton was? :eyes: He wasn't going to be in our faces , like Clinton was. :eyes: He was going to be the "un Clinton". He has certainly pulled that one off. And I don't ever recall Clinton being on TV as much as Pinhead** is and has been.

7. That's not what the shareholders on the board of directors think
For example, if you work for NBC, your employer would probably think differently. Their job is to deliver profits to the shareholders of General Electric, since NBC is a wholly owned subsidiary of that defense giant, not necessarily follow journalistic integrity. You'll be replaced, and they'll bring in someone else who will advance the bottom line and not ask so many questions.

If getting the ratings up and thus profits will mean more Terry Schiavos, more missing girls in Aruba, more Laci Petersons, etc. and less coverage about health care, education, labor standards, etc., then it will be done in the interests of the shareholders because that's the bottom line.

14. No one watching
It hardly matters. It is sickening but for as long as they fail to discuss the illegality of the war, they're all presstitutes anyway.

18. The only thing I even watch on NBC is ER & Law & order
I rarely watch "regular" tv anymore.. I love the numerous PBS channels I get with Dish..and I watch FSTV & Link and BBC and HBO & Showtime..

There are very few "shows" I watch..

I still watch

Gilmore Girls
Law & Order
the silly show with Charlie Sheen
NOW
60 minutes (sometimes)
Cold Case
Desperate Housewives
Grey's Anatomy (sometimes)

that's it..

17. It is his 3rd of 4 speeches before the Iraqi elections
The first was the Naval Acadamy, the second was this past week to that mixed political group. I am not sure where the next two will be.

It's not such a bad idea, really. A 24-hour channel that follows the President through every minute of his day.

point out how profound it is. "That was the best fart ever!". They fall all over themselves telling us how it shows Bush to be a true leader. "John Kerry never farted like that!"

26. Major Major Major
"Catch-22", my all-time favorite book! :) Great anti-war novel!

"There was only one catch and that was Catch-22, which specified that a concern for one's own safety in the face of dangers that were real and immediate was the process of a rational mind. Orr was crazy and could be grounded. All he had to do was ask; and as soon as he did, he would no longer be crazy and would have to fly more missions. Orr would be crazy to fly more missions and sane if he didn't, but if he was sane he had to fly them. If he flew them he was crazy and didn't have to; but if he didn't want to he was sane and had to. Yossarian was moved very deeply by the absolute simplicity of this clause of Catch-22 and let out a respectful whistle."
