Bush Attends a Fundraiser in the Middle of the Work Day ---pix->>>
Edited on Fri Dec-09-05 02:24 PM by Stephanie

I don't know - isn't he raising funds for the GOP on OUR time? Seems to me he should be working on a Friday afternoon, like the rest of us. Not to mention what it cost us to fly him to Minnesota.

President Bush, left, is introduced by Rep. Mark Kennedy, R-Minn., during
a Minnesota Republican fundraiser Friday, Dec. 9, 2005 in Minneapolis,
Minn. Bush traveled to Minnesota for the fundraiser for Republican U.S.
Senate candidate Kennedy. The president's visit comes at a time when his
approval rating in Minnesota has plunged. If that trend continues, it
could hurt the chances of Republican candidates with close ties to Bush in
the next election. (AP Photo/Pablo Martinez Monsivais)

Hug him real close Mark! We'll be using those pics next November.

To prove his independence to skeptical moderates in the traditionally Democratic state, Kennedy's campaign has highlighted his opposition to a key Bush priority, drilling for oil in Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, and to Bush's No Child Left Behind education reforms.

Minnesota Democrats say they're not buying it, pointing to a record that shows Kennedy has voted with the White House 97 percent of the time.

They welcomed Bush's arrival in Minnesota, hoping that his low approval ratings would be radioactive for any Republican aligned with a president they see as weakened by the war in Iraq, Hurricane Katrina, and GOP ethics investigations.

"People trust us more with their problems, the governor has a very low re-elect number and the president, who has the worst numbers of all, will be on the same stage with (GOP Gov. Tim) Pawlenty and their Senate candidate," said Minnesota DFL Party executive director Andrew O'Leary.

6. That hug is a death grip.
Look what Bushit did to Kill&gore here in VA. Dropped him by 6 points instantly, ensuring his defeat. I hope to see Bush out on the campaign trail a LOT. I'll be happy to pay my share.

Dems could never buy ads to cause the kind of damage Bush is doing to this clown's campaign.

9. Don't know if such figures are 'researchable' ..
... but it would be interesting to add up all of the taxpayer dollars this idiot has spent on (a) travelling for exclusively-GOP business, and (b) arranging his famous photo-ops, complete with props, special lighting, technical crews, etc.

That's got to be a LOT OF MOOLAH -- and would be a nice little factoid for the Dems to banter about this election cycle.

13. Here's some info on protests
http://www.startribune.com/stories/587/5773454-2.html

Meanwhile, 200 to 300 protesters of various stripes gathered across the street from the Hilton before noon. They carried signs that read, among other things: "Not Another Bush Puppet for Senate," "Bush!! Kennedy!! Both incompetent!" "Tell the Truth, Iraq War: $9 million Per Hour, Tick Tock," "No to Torture" and "Impeach Bush."

At least three groups were organizing protests -- Veterans for Peace, Youth Against War and Racism, and the Twin Cities Peace Committee/Focus on Iraq.

DFL Senate candidate, Ford Bell, president of the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation, plans to buy lunch for military veterans at the Market Bar-B-Que near the Hilton and intends to draw attention to Kennedy's votes for reductions in veterans programs.

DFL Party Chair Brian Melendez has rented a room on Hilton's 20th floor, where he will be available to personally deliver his party's reaction to the fundraiser.
