Milton Friedman is a liar. Just another garden variety conservative who lies to propagandize people and the corporate media cooperates fully.

http://www.rinfret.com/mf.html

<snip>
There was no such thing as Nobel Prize in Economics for the very simple reason that it was not invented by Alfred Nobel but by the Bank of Sweden and only years ago, at that! The truth of this prize does not stop Milton Friedman (and economists like him) from claiming and representing he won a Nobel Prize! There is no question that he won the Bank of Sweden Memorial Prize in honor of Alfred Nobel but by no stretch of the imagination did he win a Nobel prize and to claim so (as he does) is to lie but, then again, he lies frequently about most things!
<snip>

The author, Pierre Rinfret, was in the Whitehouse with Nixon and seems to have butted heads with the Free-Marketeer Friedman.

<snip>
I knew Dr. Milton Friedman for about 25 years. Each and every contact with him was a flight into fantasy land. I was on the economic advisory committee for Richard Nixon along with Milton Friedman; I debated him about a dozen time over the years from 1960 to 1980 and I had contact with him more than once at the White House.
<snip>

And Republicans (including Clinton and Gore) were 100% for NAFTA. This Laissez Faire economic plan has done serious economic damage to America. And Milton Friedman was on PBS touting the free market magic and how it would help the peoples of earth in wonderful ways.

I say economics has a false foundational premise. It says that people act in their own best economic self-interest.
FALSE.
I just get so pissed at how easy 'we the people' are to fool and distract by these pragmatic players. It's not the fault of the American people, I feel, because we are being operated upon by forces too hard to resist.
All it takes is money to buy TV output, and BINGO -instant propagandasmic success!

It seems like we wont get paper ballots until we have TV news that informs 'we the people' about the realities at play.

This has been bugging me again. I just had to get it out here.

1. People do act in their own best interest, and exactly that
Their OWN economic interest, which may be in direct conflict with societies economic interest.

5. WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
People only TRY to act in their best interest. The general public is frequently wrong about what is in their best interest and even more wrong about how to actually act in their best interest. Certainly people know not to walk into traffic or stick their face in a meat slicer, but on many, many issues they have not a clue as to what is in their best interest or how to go about getting it. In short, the history of human decision making as it relates to self interest is a smorgasboard of wrong choices. This fact is a testament to Darwin's theory of natural selection and evolution. Fortunately, humans have at least a million years of real world, don't get your ass killed experience to make it through periods like the BushCo. years without becoming extinct.
