DNC: Republicans are cherry picking Governor Dean's words
Edited on Wed Dec-07-05 06:47 PM by ProSense
Bush's Failed Leadership Undermines War Effort
December 6, 2005

Washington, DC - Democratic National Committee Communications Director Karen Finney issued the following statement on Governor Dean's remarks on President Bush's failed Iraq policy:

"Here we go again, the Republicans are cherry picking Governor Dean's words just like they cherry picked the pre-war intelligence. As Governor Dean said, our troops are doing their part, serving with great courage. But, a 35-page report based on poll-driven slogans is not the way to win. We can only win if the Iraqi people are able to play a greater role in peacekeeping, and we can only win if the President gives an honest assessment of what's really happening on the ground in Iraq.

"'Staying the course' and paying for good headlines are not a strategy; it's merely a bad excuse for not having a plan. We cannot continue to have a permanent commitment to a failed strategy in Iraq. As every American knows, it's time to change course. Democrats will continue to fight for a plan that's as good as our troops, with clear benchmarks for success."

1. Just like the republicans always do
They really know how to put a negative spin on anything dems say and they repeat it until every thinks thats exactly what the dems meant.

2. What is it about FREE SPEECH that terrifies the Democrats???
Why are the Dems so afraid to air their differing views in open debate? Have they forgotten about the first amendment? If they truly believed in the constitution, they would live by it and exercise their first amendment right to free speech. It is incumbent upon them as legislators to exemplify the principles contained within the constitution by exercising their first amendment right to debate important national issues openly in order to further the national dialog. THAT IS THEIR JOB!!! They must discuss matters of national gravity from every different angle, and let the discussion evolve in every different direction until a consensus is reached (or not). By denying themselves the rights afforded to them in the constitution, they look so effing lame!!!

Only a bold leader can give this country a new vision, and turn it once again into an economic and political global leader. We have the ingenuity, money and motivation to do it in this county in many different areas, if only an independent leader would emerge to change course and guide the country to renewed greatness.

3. I'll take a stab at this...

The Constitutional "Free Speech" amendment wasn't intended to allow sick mental deviates to lie, cheat, and slander their ways through life, and political elections. Free Speech was intended to protect those that speak out against a tyrannical government, from being tyrannized by it.
As such, we are NOT afraid of Free Speech, since it is what gives us our political voice. I, and many like me fear the liars that are able to perform their "art" without being checked by a neutered media. (So much for free press too...)

4. Point well taken but...

True, but if there is treason within the government, why aren't the Democrats oppposing it radically? Why didn't John Kerry speak out against the vote fraud that has been proven by the GAO, which took place in Ohio? Why didn't he come out against his fellow Skull and Bones brethren, dubya??? He had an obligation to all those that voted for him to do so and it would've been the start of a revolution. Instead he weaseled away, protecting his class status. How dare he.

As such, we are NOT afraid of Free Speech,

Perhaps you are not, but your democratic representatives in Congress (save John Murtha) sure ARE. They behave as though they don't know which way to turn for fear of being spanked. Gimme a break. At least Dean isn't afraid to speak his mind. He's got some spine.

I, and many like me fear the liars that are able to perform their "art" without being checked by a neutered media. (So much for free press too...)

The corporate government will keep you in fear and keep lying to you. And the media is nothing more than an arm of that government, every bit as much as the department of Homeland Security. The internet is the only place left to get the truth, and they are now working on ways to shut that down too.

A unique leader must rise up from the ashes of the Democratic Party if they hope to win any future elections, and that leader must have a compelling vision that captures the attention and faith of the American people. The Democrats are completely ineffectual now because they have muzzled themselves and disavowed and betrayed their base.

6. Democrats won elections in 2005 and will win future elections.
Kerry has a clear and compelling vision for the country and is calling for full withdrawal from Iraq.

And one needs to be able to prove vote fraud. The GAO report is not proof.

Skull and Bones? Say no more.

Yeah right. And Santa's coming down my Chimney with Rudolph in tow.

I have admired John Kerry all my life, but he did me wrong in the last election and his betrayal has left me cold. I voted for him and was soon kicking myself for doing so after he refused to address the obvious voting irregularities in Ohio and the issue of Diebold voting machines. He was extremely popular and had the attention of half the country at that time and he should have used it wisely. Instead he turned tail and ran back to the safety of Nantucket and all that money. How cozy of him. I felt betrayed. He had more loyalty to his Skull and Bones brethren than to the 55 million or so that voted for him. I will NOT vote for ANY Democrat that voted for this war in Iraq ever again. I like Russ Feingold in '08, and Hilary better piss off asking for my vote.

Skull and Bones? Say no more.

Yes, those that belong to that secret society agree with you. Scary, isn't it?

7. You can find that Dean says lots of things when you cherry pick his words.
Edited on Thu Dec-08-05 10:51 AM by obreaslan
I once heard Dean say in a speech...

"I...hate...America...and...hope...it...falls...to...the...French...invaders...Bush...can...bite...me..."

:)

8. LOL
He's a testy fellow, that Dean. Why on earth did he have to unleash that horrid scream just when he was going places? Then it came to be known as the "I have a scream speech." At least it was entertaining.

13. I had friends at the "Scream Speech" rally
They said he had to yell to be heard, and that it wasn't a "scream" in the room. It came across that way because the media got his mike feed without the crowd noise. That, and it gave the DLC and the DNC the ammo to make him look like a nut. So they could nominate someone who would win. No, wait...

10. They do it so media will pick up their frame and use it to divide Dems.
That's one of their favorite tactics.

Most of the time Dems are pressured by media for an answer they are given a cherry=picked quote taken completely out of context.
