Our next president should be:
People have supposedly said they want a "totally different" kind of president. Well it can't stop there. We have a totalitarian congress that allows little, if any real debate/discussion/thought about the bills they pass or don't pass.

The next president would hopefully be strong enough to suggest and GET a total overhaul of how our congress works. (within the Constitution, of course)..

Even the most carefree of families has a "family audit" from time to time. In a family , if one kid never gets what they need, and the other kid gets stuff they don't even ask for or need, there is going to be family strife. At some point in time, the family needs to sit down and explain why , or get their priorities in order. Congress needs a thorough going-over. If there are 13 continuing bills each session, those need to be examined with a microscope to cut out the excess and pork and comfy little loopholes. The US needs to go on a pork-free diet, and the public would buy into it, if it was fair and across the board. I have the sneaky feeling, that once the excess and lobbyist-paybacks were cut out, there would be money enough to get bridges built, roads fixed, levees strengthened.

Whoever gets elected, they need to go before the people and say that things are going to get FIXED , and attention to detail will be a hallmark of the new administration.

Whether the offenders are republican or democratic, they need to be exposed. Every administration says" they are coming to town to clean house, and yet all that involves is sweeping all the dirt under the rug, and putting the brooms away for at least 3 1/2 years.

The ideal president would be a cross between Eisenhower and Truman, but more than likely we will end up with just another rich dilettante who will promise us roses, and deliver only the thorns.

A Real Primate for President! At least she is sincere when her knuckles drag on the ground. And she has to be more intelligent than the entire Bush Cabal.

9. Gay.
Well, I can dream, can't I? :)

OK, OK, OK... Our next president should be Dennis Kucinich. As far left as a Dem can get, not a DINO, not a DLCer, not afraid to go against the tide to do the right thing, and has the backbone and the determination to fix all of the above.

A cross between Eisenhower and Truman is a weeeeeeeeee bit too far to the right for me. As you can guess. LOL

Once this abortion of a "war" is over with, and we make amends with Europe, I'd like to know what it feels like to be a full-fledged citizen in this country (it's a foreign concept to me, remember) before we get any more warheads in office.

In other words, I want somebody who takes my citizenship just as seriously as s/he does that of the nearest white, male, hetero Christian... in addition to somebody who understands that "manifest destiny" isn't such a hot idea anymore, especially beyond our own borders.

11. I like the "calmness" of the elder-Eisenhower, and the
resoluteness of Truman..and the fact that both of them were truke of humble beginnings..

I am not too crazy about the millionaire candidates and the "packaging" that comes with modern candidates.

13. Kinda outta luck there, SC...
...seeing as how we don't have much of a choice between dead men we respect, and modern/packaged politicians who own the system.

If we can bring the dead into it, then I'd take Bobby Kennedy. In addition to everything else, he's the only one I think would not have deliberately ignored the value of my life (as opposed to the need for my vote).

Here's a question: Would you have voted for Ike over Adlai?
