10. The majority of christians today
Edited on Tue Dec-06-05 08:30 AM by DoYouEverWonder
are followers of Pauline christianity, whether they realize it or not.

They were not just one group of 100's, they became the ruling power when the Pauline Christians and the Romans joined forces and became the Holy Roman Empire.

9. In the early days of Christianity
there were 100's of different sects. However, there emerged 3 major groups. First the Jewish Christians, which included the original apostles.

From there some of Jesus' followers went down a more mystical path and became gnostic christians. Their beliefs about Jesus and god are now considered 'radical'.

Then along came Saul of Tarsus, who was converted on the road to Damascus and became Paul. He combined the teachings of Jesus with his pagan god Mithras and this is the 'god' that most modern day christians are following. He has little to do with the real Jesus at this point.

Has the Pauline Christians became more powerful and became accepted by the Romans, they decided that the gnostic teachings were heretical and needed to be suppressed. The Paulines persecuted and killed the gnostic christians, just about wiping them out by 400 AD.

13. Then why did you ask the question
since it seems you already knew the answer? I based my response on what is known and documented about the early history of christianity. Did I misstate something?

I was curious what is it that you disagree about? Maybe I can 'enlighten' you?

Edit: BTW I just took a peak at your profile. I agree, Jesus is God. But I also believe that I am god and you are god too.

11. Hmmm
maybe this is why some religions don't give him a name? So we can't have fun with acronymns.

Personally, I'm inclined to the latest phrase "Who would Jesus torture?"

16. The problem with that....
....is, the religion teaches that you will be tortured in hell. Since Jesus is so closely related to the religion, one could say Jesus is all for it.

Boiling it down to Generation, O & D, takes away the torture scenarios. It means we are all gonna die. Basically, the choice is: HOW? How are ya gonna die?

Personally, "Yee shall reap what yee sow" is the guiding principle. It means: If you torture others, you will be tortured. Its all in the 'Organization' part. You are what you are.

Ca' Peace.
