EXCLUSIVE: IRAQI "KILL PILL" drug makes rebels fearless
1 December 2005
EXCLUSIVE: IRAQ FANATICS' KILL PILL
Iraq drug makes rebel fanatics fearless
Exclusive By Chris Hughes
A DRUG which makes users feel superhuman is being taken by rebel fanatics before they launch attacks against UK troops in Iraq.

The pill - filled with addictive stimulant methamphetamine - is given to insurgents so they have no fear of taking on heavily-armed Coalition forces.

Now senior British officers fear the courage drug, which is known as a "pinky", is flooding Basra where it could help fuel a second armed uprising.

1. It's a tactical advantage
people that rush your position instead of taking a more methodical and concealed approach are much easier to machinegun

5. pinky and the brain
For planning the attacks, they use a drug which sharpens their mind called "the brain". It also contains methamphetamines.

8. All of them?
Or most of them? Or some of them? Or just the ones your friend told you about? Or is this opinion? Or something you wish? Something in the "Fighter Pilots Manual"?

It is all there these days. :hi:

On Edit:
And for the record, I do not object to the practice. If it makes them more effective (i.e. less likely to die) good for them. I am neither shocked nor troubled by either side engaging in the practice. It is just logical in time of war. Whatever edge you can get you should.

16. yea, when it is all about killing people
the "moral" issues around drugs seem pretty meaningless.
However I seem to remember some inferring that it led to itchy trigger fingers. (wiping out wedding parties, etc.)
I doubt if anyone will ever know for sure.

10. why don't you fire up your search engine and find some answers
If you don't believe DA's claim, at least have the guts to openly make the accusation instead of trying to hide behind what you clearly believe to be clever phraseology. Generally speaking, it's not a great idea to publicly air your own ignorance on a given topic by attempting to belittle someone who is actually in posession of the facts that have apparently eluded you.

Thank you.

14. It is a well known fact that our troops have been using drugs
Since WWII. I have four uncles who were flyboys in the Army and Navy Air Force in WWII, and they all were given "pep pills"(amphetamine) before missions to sharpen focus, quicken reflexes, battle fatigue, etc. My step father was a career combat pilot from WWII through Vietnam and relates that such drugs, along with many others, were easily available, and their use unofficially encouraged.

Modern day use is still common, and even encouraged.
<http://www.csmonitor.com/2002/0809/p01s04-usmi.html>

Perhaps you remember the friendly fire incident in Afghanistan a couple of years ago that involved speed: Jan 2, 2003 WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Two U.S. F-16 pilots charged with manslaughter in the April "friendly fire" bombing of Canadian troops in Afghanistan that killed four soldiers routinely took amphetamines that may have impaired their judgment, a lawyer for one of the men said on Thursday.

An Air Force spokeswoman said U.S. pilots have used low doses of dextroamphetamine while flying long missions since World War II, but insisted use of the drug was voluntary and safe.

Illinois Air National Guard pilots Majs. Harry Schmidt and William Umbach face a possible court-martial for dropping a laser-guided bomb near Kandahar on April 17 because they thought they were being fired on from the ground.

An Air Force investigation determined the pilots "demonstrated poor airmanship" and ignored standard procedure by not making sure there were no allied troops in the area.<snip>

And it seems that "go pills" were quite common during the first Gulf War also<http://www.defensetech.org/archives/000188.html> at least among pilots.

Your casual dismisal of this phenomenon is not based in any sort of reality, in fact quite the opposite. It has been and continues to be a common practice amongst our armed forces to take various forms of amphetamines. Not only a common practice, but one sanctioned by the upper brass.

And let's not even get into the usage of other drugs friend, the evidence for that is overwhelming, even to the most sceptical.

They're gonna be in big, BIG trouble, cuz that federally mandated drug screening will stop any potential fastballs of mass destruction they might wish to visit on unsuspecting batters!!

Good thing we've got our priorities straight in Congress.

17. Oh dear, not the drug-crazed Jihadi story again!
This has been floated periodically since 2000.
Has anyone found drugs in the body of a suicide bomber?
Religious fanaticism and peer pressure can be
more powerful than any drug.

The article conveniently mixes the Shiite militias
with the al-Qaeda suicide bombers. It also links
the rampant drug trafficking in Iraq with the
fanatics/insurgents/rejectionists.

One problem though, Islam frowns on drug and alcohol use.
A Jihadi trying to reach Heaven on methamphetamine
just does not sound plausible.

This all sounds like the British trying to demonize
their Shiite enemies by dusting of the centuries old
war legend of drug fueled berzerkers.
