If you are unfamiliar with the political thriller "Z" you can read about it http://frenchfilms.topcities.com/nf_Z_rev.html">here.

Admittedly there have not been blatent (Just a WHOLE lot of "accidents" and clamming up:eyes: )assinations of opponents of Bushco but the icky possibilities remain, but on a larger scale than the military junta in Greece in the late 60's.

One figure in that movie, a prosecuting judge, is like Fitzgerald on steroids. A Leftwing Senator is murdered after a public event by CROC which is a christo-fascist militia of thugs run by the military. This man goes after the right-wing killers and their police and military masters with a robotic destroyer demeanor.

He keeps pressing for the truth and ends up going after the top brass.

Of course he succeeds but a few years later a Junta takes complete control and most of the players in the event are imprisoned or killed.

Oh well I watched it again tonight and it SO reminds me of today even though it was 40 years ago in Greece...

I debated whether or not this is a Lounge thread but honestly I believe that real-life events of four decades ago, or six decades ago, should be powerful reminders of what must (Or should) be done in the present.

EDIT: Crap...This is Jan Michael not Stephanie...Whoops.

1. There was a recent thread...
...on the DU Lounge asking for favorite movies with a liberal slant. I submitted "Z" because I am of Greek heritage so it has special meaning for me. Thank you for your contribution, you are so right. The final scene is a chilling reminder of what we face under the current regime.

Check it out, but be aware it is in French with subtitles.

4. Don't forget "State of Siege"
Yes, Thtwudbeme, "Z" seems prophetic. Here's another great one, too:
