in his interview just now with Soledad on CNN.
He almost made me turn the channel when he started out by saying Bush did a couple good things in his speech, but then I realized he was just using that as a set-up, a sort of tempering, to ultimately blister Bush, but not have it simply come off as another total whitewash by a Democrat.
Soledad asked him if he liked anything the president had to say and Biden said, yeah, a couple things like the president admitted things hadn't gone too well and it would take more time. He said Bush told the truth on those two things. What Biden was doing was showing that he was being impartial and fair, by starting out with a couple token compliments. But then...
he followed up by saying that although the president told a couple truths, he still didn't have a plan...and Biden got specific. He said that while the president kept mentioning how it would take time to train Iraqi brigades, he did not come up with a single method of HOW he was going to train them. He didn't come up with any plan of exactly HOW he was going to change anything. Biden said that all the president did was talk about the goals but didn't mention a darn thing on exactly what he was going to do to accomplish those goals.
Biden even said, "Mr President, how bout a plan, Stan!"
Yeah, I like Biden's approach on this. No one could say that he was just a Democrat totally slamming anything the imbecile in chief does. Importantly, he first got the ears of the OTHER side by giving a couple minor compliments to the president's speech, lending to his own (Biden's) fairness, but THEN he followed up in length by using specific examples of how the president STILL had no frigging plan. He used the example in Afghanistan of how we talked to the Iranians, etc there to accomplish things, but in Iraq the president refused to do the same thing. He mentioned how the president in Iraq was refusing to accept other countries' offers to help out in Iraq. Basically, Biden proved with specific examples the president's total incompetence on his handling of Iraq.
How bout a plan, Stan!
