Today Father Alex Sherlock entered Hell
Disgraced priest dies

Mobile, Alabama - Alex Sherlock, forced to resign as an active Catholic priest in the wake of sexual abuse claims against him, was a Biblical scholar and a superb fundraiser, said those who remember him fondly.

<snip>

A Montgomery native, Sherlock was removed from his St. Peter's pastorate 21/2 years ago and transferred to Mobile after accusations of sexual improprieties with young boys in the Port City.

<snip>

When the sexual abuse scandal within the Catholic church widened across the country three years ago, Sherlock was asked following his final Mass of Christmas in 2002 what he thought should happen to a cleric involved in such conduct.

"He should go to prison," Sherlock said, during an interview with the Montgomery Advertiser. "He should pay the price."

1. Didn't dante say that the worst level of hell is reserved for Judas?
It's been all long time since I read Dantes inferno.

2. Not just Judas, traitors in general
But I believe the worst punishment in that circle, being eternally gnawed on by Satan, was reserved for Judas, Brutus, and Cassius.

5. Something's wrong with these religious freaks.
I know so many of them and they are completely incapable of self-analysis. I finally decided it's not my job to change them. They have to change themselves. At this point, my job is to analyze myself and make sure I'm not doing anything I should be ashamed of. :shrug:

I hope others can "minister" to these folks because I just can't. For one thing, I have too much on my own plate after having been raised by them. I need to make sure I'm healthy, myself. Secondly, they have no respect for me and never will. I would tell you why, but it's personal stuff. It's nothing to be ashamed of, but fundies and Republicans would think it is, so I'd rather not share. They all know of these "sins," so nothing I say is going to persuade them one iota.
