2. I'd forgotten DeLay's comments about not serving in Vietnam,
"So many minority youths had volunteered that there was literally no room for patriotic folks like myself.”

Her spokesman claims that they recieved thousands of calls and e-mails and that they were 75% in her favor. :eyes: Who is he kidding. I love the quote from Delay I had never heard that one before:

Or was she referring to the ethically challenged former speaker of the House, Tom DeLay, who in 1988 stated, “So many minority youths had volunteered that there was literally no room for patriotic folks like myself.” (In the military during Vietnam?)

Hehe-Leftstreet, Great minds... If there was no room for "Patriots" like him why was there a draft?

4. I like the way this man,
Kevin W. Johnson, set this up by asking if meanjean was refering to "cheney" or "delay"?

And the man from Texas,Brian Martinez..
"If dishonoring decorated men and women in uniform who have defended our nation is your idea and your party's idea of patriotism, you have a lot of learning and growing up to do. I hope that the voters of Ohio realize the difference between a real coward who uses third-grade name calling, and a true patriot who deserves our respect and gratitude."

Not an option.

10. I .....TOTALLY agree with this person.
Reader chides Schmidt

for comments about Murtha

Dear Rep. Jean Schmidt, I actually live in Texas, so I am used to sleazy inept politicians. I thought nothing would surprise me. Rep. Schmidt, you have sunk to a new low.

You stood on the floor of the House and called Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., a coward. You, who have never served in the military at all, had the audacity to call Murtha, who served honorably in Vietnam, a coward. He was wounded, honored with a Bronze Star and Purple Hearts, and left the Marines honorably as a colonel after 37 years. And you called him a coward. How dare you.

And after you were chided for your baffling statement, you lied on the floor of Congress. You told the House that “your comments were not directed at any one member of the House.” Considering that you used his name and directed the term coward toward him, then yes, Ms. Schmidt, that makes you a liar.

If dishonoring decorated men and women in uniform who have defended our nation is our idea and your party's idea of patriotism, you have a lot of learning and growing up to do. I hope that the voters of Ohio realize the difference between a real coward who uses third-grade name calling, and a true patriot who deserves our respect and gratitude.
