I feel so privileged: the CIA says I surf illegal websites!
I think it was Monday that someone said the FBI sent them an e-mail stating that he'd been logged by the FBI as surfing "over 30 illegal websites." Of course, there was a ZIP file that is reputed to contain a really nasty virus attached.
Today I got the exact same message from the "Central Intelligence Agency Office of Public Affairs."
Oh...looking farther down I see I got one from the FBI too. And check it out: the "CIA employee" Steven Allison who "alerted me" that I surf illegal websites also signed the FBI one. Isn't that special?
The FBI has a note on its website about this virus, telling you not to open the attachments. They had a couple of e-mail addresses that the virus was known to have come from. I got some different addresses, so I used the FBI's "crime tips" page to forward the new addresses to them.
I wonder if more of "us" are getting these than more of "them". Can you trace the server? go to options, find the originating IP address and drop it into www.network-tools.com and see what traces out.
