Nagin vacations in Montego Bay
http://www.jamaicaobserver.com/news/html/20051119T200000-0500_92886_OBS_NEW_ORLEANS_LOOKING_TO_STRENGTHEN_RELATIONS_WITH_JAMAICA_.asp

I don't see a problem with this. It's not like he vacations every other month like someone we know. And it's been several months now since the hurricane, he and his family need the break. But read some comments from freepers:

"He should have vacationed in Aruba" - Why?

"Bullet proof bastard" - What does that mean?

"Did he take his bong or pipe?" - Why? Is he rumored to smoke pot like Bush?

15. good
i know their type, the tourists who seldom step foot out of their resort compound, except to make snide remarks about jamaican people and culture.

i love jamaica and hope they stay FAR FAR away.

3. How quickly they forget Bush was on vacation when Katrina struck.
Further, he was reluctant to end it.

6. The JA tourist board and hotels have also offered holidays

to other victims of Katrina.

Seems silly to attack Nagin for taking up an R&R when your president remains in the White House after his disastrous handling of Katrina and post-Katrina recovery and while NOLA people still find their dead in their homes. Of course the well praised Brownie earned enough money for doing nothing so he can afford a holiday wherever - hopefully in hell with the other masters of the culture of corruption.
Edit -sp.

9. You can buy a house in Texas for $250K?
Nagin wouldn't want to live in what you could buy for that much out here by the Blue Pacific.

10. And unlike "someone we know", he's actually getting things done
while he's down there.

According to Nagin, the planned festival was to be used as a springboard to further economic linkages between New Orleans and Jamaica.

"The festival was supposed to kick off something big," he said. "We were planning to rotate this festival between Jamaica and New Orleans where we could bring the best music, the best food and the best people together and then, for example, take advantage of the tourism of both places."...

President of the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association (JHTA) Horace Peterkin said at Friday's welcome ceremony for Nagins, that the trade delegation was to examine ways in which Montego Bay and New Orleans could establish long-term relations.

"The invitation was for us to go there (New Orleans), get the businessmen to look at some investment opportunities in Jamaica and for discussion on the twinning of the cities," said Peterkin, who is also manager of one of Stewart's Sandals properties.

This isn't as farfetched at it might sound; New Orleans is often called "The Northern Capital of the Caribbean". Reggae music is popular, particularly at Jazz Fest. It might be time to put out the call to Jamaican immigrants in NYC, Boston, Miami etc. to come over and help rebuild and resettle NOLA.

18. he might as well strengthen ties with the Caribbean!
Because at this rate, it's going to be more helpful than the city's ties with FEMA. Or with the White House, which sent more than a third of the Louisiana National Guard to Iraq, along with their equipment.

16. Excuse my language
They didn't cry wolf when President Moran vacations for weeks at a time that broke down ranch in Texas. But the mayor of a wrecked city goes on vacation and tries to do a little business while there and you make thinly veiled death threats from your raggedy Idaho cabin piled to the roof with guns and bullets, with the wall decorated with David Duke and Nazi propoganda. Get your minds straight, freepers because the real world is anywhere near you.

17. I should not have followed your link to freeperville, because
I have never been there before, and within a couple of minutes I found myself appalled at the ignorance and arrogance I detected in the postings. Frightening--when you actually get too close to that stuff.

But it's a good thing I posted this, it looks like I snatched a freeper who got his post deleted. :)
