Rumsfeld: I Didn't Advocate Invasion
Rumsfeld: I Didn't Advocate Invasion

On This Week, Stephanopoulos asked Rumseld if he knew the truth about the lack of WMDs, if he would still have decided to go to war, his response was to the effect that he was never asked. Imagine that, Bush never consulted with the Secretary of Defense regarding the case for war with Iraq. The distancing begins (video).

2. OMG
We've obviously been paying him to do nothing. He's fired, and we should sue him and get our money back.

15. er, the Secretary of State wasn't asked
according to Powell. He may have been asked how to invade, but probably not when to invade.

6. He actually has said this all along,
several times over the last couple years. It's not a new position or a hallmark of any sea change. It is rather disconcerting...

8. & when asked if this meant he was distancing himself from the invasion,
Rummy chastised him. Stephanopoulos put his tail between his legs, and mumbled something about "just asking." It was pretty pitiful.

9. I think Rumsfailed asked about invading Iraq right after 9/11.
I don't believe that he and W or Cheney never discussed this. I think he is playing a semantics game with the reporters.

13. These idiots can't even rearrange deck chairs
Seriously, when has there ever been a major cabinet shuffle that wasn't related to criminal activities or resignations in disgust?

14. ""Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times."
Matthew 26:75

Peter remembered the word which Jesus had said to him, "Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times." He went out and wept bitterly.

This is what a saint would do. If Rummy should shed any tears they will be of the crocodile variety,

16. oh. my. Goddess.
IF there is any truth in this (and that's a big whopping IF) then we have both the Sec of Defense AND the former Sec of State stating that neither were asked their opinion on starting a major war. That is a big problem.
