What Common Quotes drive you up the wall?
Here one of mine:

"the only thing left in the middle of the road is roadkill"

(I've been hearing that alot lately by Right Wingers with the canard that Bush has been "too moderate" of late)

1. There are so MANY, but ...
... I'd have to say Bush's 'turning the corner' aggravates me the worst. "We're turning the corner in Iraq," and, "We're turning the corner with the economy." etc.

I guess he's too stupid to realize that when you continually 'turn the corner', you wind up back where you started!

3. They don't know what the "middle" is.
It's the firm center that keeps the wing nuts hanging out on the peripheries from spiraling out into space. ;)

It's where all the less ideologically driven, pragmatic problem solvers hang out.

6. "It is what it is"
Before the last couple of years, this phrase was heard rarely, if ever. Now, it is uttered multiple times daily in every conceivable context. A meaningless phrase has become a national mantra. Why? What did we used to say in such situations before we began regurgitating this faux wisdom? I can't exactly say that its proliferation is bad. I suppose it just is what it is.

7. Not necessarily political but I can't stand this one:
He/she is smart but doesn't have any common sense.

Aaaaaargh!! :grr: :banghead: :nuke:

This is said of just about any intelligent person, regardless of any actual evidence of a lack of this undefined quality known as "common sense". Apparently it must be something possessed in abundance by stupid, ignorant wingnuts, as they are most apt to invoke this claim when confronted by someone in possession of actual facts and critical thinking skills. "Yer one o' them book smart people. I ain't got time fer all that readin' I got too much COMMON SENSE!"

9. Here are a few
1) "He means what he says and does what he says"
this standard phrase from the stupid media and commentators to portray Dumbya as a strong leader during those halcyon, heady days (2001-2004) drove me crazy as hell. And all that came out of his mouth most of the time was stupid bullshit and wrong, the guy couldn't even speak english.

2) "Bush Doctrine"
the mere idea that this stupid clown who a few years before was a bored nose-picking, sports-team manager in TX was tranformed into an intellectual geopolitical thinker was too much for me.

14. Hear, hear! "Bush Doctrine"---BWAAHAHAHA!
"Doctrine", my ass! This dumb shit couldn't produce a "doctrine" if his life depended on it.

The phenomenon might, however, be called "The Bush Neurosis". It would be on the spectrum of mental conditions, somewhere right near "anal retentiveness", "oppositional-defiant personality", and "feeblemindedness".

Fun bonus drive-meup-a-wall quote:

today's rich people would be rich again, and today's poor people would be poor again."

I've heard this saying several times over the years. I don't know where it comes from, but it's a perfect example of "the rich deserve their wealth."
