NEOCON ROCK!!
Turn it up dude...from thinkprogress.org

“Bush Was Right!” — The New Hit Single Ready to Rock a Generation
RightMarch.com, a conservative online advocacy group, has launched a campaign trying to get a right-wing musical duo, The Right Brothers, onto MTV.

Well grab your iPods and crank up your speakers, because ThinkProgress has a sneak preview of the Brothers’ new single, “Bush Was Right.” If any song was ever a virtual lock to top the TRL charts, it’s got to be this rockin’ tribute to all things Bush.

Some sample lyrics and an audio excerpt below (and no, this is not a parody):

Freedom in Afghanistan, say goodbye Taliban
Free elections in Iraq, Saddam Hussein locked up
Osama’s staying underground, Al Qaida now is finding out
America won’t turn and run once the fighting has begun

Don’t you know that all this means…
Bush was right! Bush was right!

1. Full lyrics inside...
“Bush Was Right” by The Right Brothers
Lyrics by Frank Highland

Freedom in Afghanistan, say goodbye Taliban
Free elections in Iraq, Saddam Hussein locked up
Osama’s staying underground, Al Qaida now is finding out
America won’t turn and run once the fighting has begun
Libya turns over nukes, Lebanese want freedom, too
Syria is forced to leave, don’t you know that all this means

Bush was right!
Bush was right!
Bush was right!

Democracy is on the way, hitting like a tidal wavev All over the middle east, dictators walk with shaky knees
Don’t know what they’re gonna do, their worst nightmare is coming true
They fear the domino effect, they’re all wondering who’s next

Bush was right!
Bush was right!
Bush was right!

Ted Kennedy - wrong!
Cindy Sheehan - wrong!
France - WRONG!
Zell Miller - right!

Economy is on the rise kicking into overdrive
Angry liberals can’t believe it’s cause of W’s policies
Unemployment’s staying down, Democrats are wondering how
Revenue is going up, can you say “Tax Cuts”

Bush was right!
Bush was right!
Bush was right!

Cheney was right, Condi was right,
Rummy was right, Blair was right
You were right, We were right, “The Right” was right
and Bush was right…
Bush was right!
Bush was right!

15. It's not just blind ignorance, it's also just plain bad.
Those lyrics aren't even creative. Totally unimaginitive, no artistic value whatsoever. "Bush was right"? That's your hook? Not exactly "Fortunate Son." And that's leaving out the outright lies in the lyrics. Just how is that economy, boys? Or are you spoiled little country club pricks like your dear leader?

No wonder all the good artists are liberals. Conservatives by and large just aren't creative, cause they hate the arts.

Put a good backbeat to it, in 3/4 time, yeah, this one is number one with a bullet:eyes:

What's sad about all of this propaganda BS is that the 33% pro-Bush minority just eat this shit up like it's going out of style. And god forbid if you introduce the truth to them, they just deny all of it in order to keep lapping up swill like this.

This is just junk food for the stupid neo-con soul.

18. I just love Rightwing entertainment
The Right may be wizards at marketing themselves to the fear/hate regions of the lizard brains amongst us, but the pop culture thing constantly eludes them. The entertainment they provide at their various hootenanies usually makes one long for the comparative hipness of Tony Orlando and Dawn. But with this little ditty they've outdone themselves reaching a new pinnacle of embarrassingly lame.

The typical "Texan" B*sh loving, country fan. THis is supposed to be targeted at the 18-24 year old Greenday/Eminem fan. I trust this group to see this crappy, uninteresting, piece of crap for what it is. No matter what the corporate MSM said, this group did come out in force last year to vote, they do hate B*sh, and they are not stupid.

This is one step short of Cheney, Rove and B*sh getting together themselves and starting a punk band. :)

28. not that my observations are deserving of this much clarification
I don't really know much about Toby Keith or other jingoistic "country" artists, but I am talking about rightwing entertainment that is specifically financed, produced and promoted by the Right. T. Keith has been used to promote the wingnut way of life, but I don't think he was bankrolled by any Rightwing organizations (although this is an assumption on my part). But I wouldn't make that assumption about the song that is the subject of this thread. Another guess on my part, but I just assume there is some kind of rightwing financing behind their efforts.

20. well...
the music sucks, so it has a chance of being all over mtv and clear channel.

billy joel should sue for them stealing his vocal melody to "we didn't start the fire".

the right brothers join the ranks of

toby keith - one of the most prolific lyricists of all time with classics like "big ol' truck and beer for my horses.

neil young - one of the greatest vocalists of all time. there's a good reason why neil young loved kurt cobain and eddie vedder's vocal offerings.

ted nugent - ummm. he had 3 good years when he was part of damn yankees and got to play guitar along side a couple of good pop/rock song writers.

31. Its been going on for years on both sides...
I love how this is randomly all of the sudden a big deal. There have been bands on both ends of the political spectrum tackling (not just) Bush for years. Here's the lyrics for Ministry's "No W" off of "Houses of the Mole" (too lazy to put the accent above the "e"):

If this is really living
Then why am I so unforgiving
Half the world is down the toilet
Half on its way

If I had a dollar for every time he hollers
Trust us with your hearts and minds
Or I'll make you pay

Trust me
Trust me

Ask me why you're feeling screwed
And I'll give you the answer
There's a Colon Dick & Bush
Justa hammerin' away

Ask me why you feel deceived
Stripped of all your liberties
It doesn't take a genius to explain
That today

Trust me
Trust me

Michael Graves, former singer of the legendary punk band the Misfits, is a Republican. Some of you may remember his "feature" on the Daily Show. He actively promotes his agenda.

I know of nazi/pagan/satanist 13 year old black metal musicians that were out burning churches in Norway in the early 90's (they were admittedly copying their older counterparts). None of this should really be all that shocking.

All that is happening right now is these bands are selling more records. The exposure is good for these bands, period. If you really want to try to take some sort of action against this shit you simply should just ignore them. The people putting this music out are relying on people who vehemently disagree with them to give them their biggest press. Why would I say that? Because I've been working with Satanic, Gore, etc bands for most of my adult life and I'm speaking from experience.

46. "Punched people out..."
Glenn may be built, but he's a punk midget not all that intimidating. Though the guy who punched him out last year was a big dude.

The biggest thing about bringing up the Misfits with Danzig is that everyone did it for so long that he just got sick of it. I can understand that. I've done interviews with musicians where there was both written and unwritten off limits topics. Its nothing abnormal.

For the record though Danzig is a bitch and I have a personal grudge against him and his little rockstar attitude.

hence his "third rate" tribute is the Misfits whether or not they live up to their legendary status. I can think of plenty of bands that come back and tarnish their glorious past (of course, I can think of one big one who never went away and did a fine job...).

50. I'm aware of the legalities, but that doesn't make it right.
It's much like the situation with Creedence Clearwater Revival. Some judge gives the band name to the members who didn't write any of the band's music. Similar to a lesser degree with Pink Floyd. Lesser degree because Gilmour did write and sing, but he was not an original member of the group.

At least Pink Floyd finally went out on a good note (Assuming that was their last performance). I don't think anything will ever get John Fogerty on the same stage with Stu & Cosmo again. And while Doyle is on the current Danzig tour, I don't see Glenn & Jerry ever working things out. Damn shame on both counts.

And don't even get me started on Van Halen.... I'm already off topic as it is.

They've not just drank the kool-aide, they've gargled in it, swam in it, and more than likely speedballing it.

One could go line by line though the lyrics and point out where exactly they're wrong, but they won't believe it if you showed them hard core proof. Damn, even the *White House* is saying there was no WMD's, or Iraq-Al Qaida links.

Besides, if they feel so strongly about this, why aren't the musicians joining up? Or even going on USO tours. I'm sure the troops in Iraq would LOVE to hear this song live. Hell, they might even go up to them afterward to express their delight upfront and in person.

And musically, they, well, umm.....suck. The song, a bad riff on "We didn't start the fire", and both sounds and reads like it was written by committee. Which it might have been.
