Radio bumper music?
I sometimes listen to RW radio for entertainment, and I wonder at the bumper music. They play really great stuff by U2, Pearl Jam, Springsteen, AC-DC, Rolling Stones, etc., etc., groups that would never approve of the RW propaganda they spew.

Can't these bands sue to stop the use of their songs by the likes of Heil Hannity and The Savage Weiner? Or is that not possible because only portions of the copyrighted material are being used and not the entire songs?

1. If an artist licenses his music through ASCAP or BMI,
which most do, and the radio station or network has a license, they can play anything they want.

If an artist does not license his work, it is more than likely to never get air play.

Real rocking stuff that you would never expect. That's so wrong.

I just i noticed that some backwards knuckle-dragger at powerslimeblog drafted a birthday message to Neil Young. WTF! They haven't a clue about ... what Neil's about.

3. Hannity uses Bruce Hornsby to open his crap parade
I actually emailed Hornsby's website about it, once. They're aware of it, but my hunch is they can't do anything about it. If you listen to the actual lyrics* of "The Way it Is", it's a pretty damning indictment of yuppie greed and right-wing selfishness. I'm certain Hornsby isn't endorsing that shithead and his show.

*More proof, along with the constant apropriation of "Born in the USA" as a jingoistic, 'rah rah' Republican anthem, that Conservatives Don't Understand Song Lyrics.

7. 15 Second Rule...
Radio stations can play up to 15 seconds of a song without having to pay a royalty or report it. It's free use and the isn't covered by copyright or royalty laws.

Several years ago Chrissie Hynde tried to stop Limbo from using her "My City Is Dead" and had it turned down.
