Managing Fallujah news at the BBC
Interesting blog I found linked at a site which I monitor because it occasionally throws up this sort of thing (but I won't post here, because it has some serious flaws..)

It describes an email exchange between an individual and a BBC news editor, about the BBC's web coverage of the US use of chemical weapons at Fallujah.. interesting read:

"Regarding our general reporting on Iraq. I'm sure you are aware of the difficulties of reporting the story. I freely concede that there is an overdependence on official sources, but this is currently unavoidable due to the difficulty of gaining access to the areas many of the military operations occur in. We are always very careful to state what the source of a particular report or piece of information is."

"Overdependence on official sources", eh? Who'd have guessed that?
