God's own RW lawyer
I saw this guy speak about Jesus once--while surrounded by armed body guards.

"Some of us truly believed God told us to serve Jay," says one former employee, who requested anonymity out of fear of reprisal. "But not to help him live like Louis XIV. We are coming forward because we need to believe there is fairness in this world."

Another says: "Jay sends so many discordant signals. He talks about doing God's work for his donors, and then he flies off in his plane to play golf."

Jay Alan Sekulow (born June 10, 1956 in Brooklyn, New York) is the Chief Counsel for the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ), an international public interest law firm and educational organization.

Born into a Jewish family, Sekulow converted to Christianity when he was a student at Atlanta Baptist College (now Mercer University). While there he also became a member of Jews for Jesus. His subsequent legal work for the group would lead to his first appearance before the United States Supreme Court in the 1987 case of Board of Airport Commissioners v. Jews For Jesus. His victory won the organization the right to distribute pamphlets in airports.

In 1990, Sekulow became the director of The American Center for Law and Justice, a religious rights organization founded by evangelist Pat Robertson as a counterweight to the American Civil Liberties Union. He is also a member of the conservative Four Horsemen

Jews for Jesus is a controversial Evangelical Protestant organization founded in 1973 by Martin Rosen, also known as Moishe Rosen, an ordained Baptist minister, with a goal of converting Jews to Christianity

Its critics charge that Jews for Jesus is Jewish in name only, due to the organization's lack of Torah observance and a statement of faith indistinguishable from those of other Evangelical para-church groups

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moishe_Rosen

Moishe Rosen (born 12 April 1932 as Martin Meyer Rosen to Ben Rosen and Rose Baker) is the founder and former President of Jews for Jesus, an evangelical missionary organization working to persuade Jews that "Yeshua" (the Hebrew/Aramaic name preferred for Jesus by the Messianic movement) is the promised Messiah.

II. Moishe Rosen
My first impression of Moishe Rosen was not very favorable. When I met him, he was about 38 years old, stood 6' 2” and weighed over 300 lbs. He was neglectful in the way he dressed. When he spoke he had a really bad stutter and spoke slowly in a low voice. You often had to strain to hear him. However, we all over looked his eccentricities because we respected his genius. At first one would not think that this man would or could accomplish very much. As time went by I stood in awe and amazement at his abilities. However, I learned to be fearful of his words and tactics and dismayed at his power-hungry control

Before Rosen began Jews for Jesus he served with another Jewish mission board for 18 years. My wife was in his training program in New York City. Rosen, to illustrate a point he was attempting to make picked up a wooden chair and smashed it against the floor. When he was later called into account by his supervisors, he tried justifying his actions by saying he in fact was saving the mission money because it took less time to illustrate his point by breaking the chair than it was to lecture.

There was a young lady who had some emotional problems. One afternoon she disagreed with him over an issue and went into a rage. Rosen proceeded to spank this adult. When called into account by the mission, he justified his actions by saying she was having an emotional breakdown and was out of control. This took place in 1972 in my home in Mill Valley, California.

History of Jews for Jesus

"Messianic Judaism is Evangelical Christainity proselytizing to the Jews. The founder of Jews for Jesus, a deceptive proselytizing technique, was Martin Rosen, a former Jew who converted to Evangelical Christianity in the mid-1950's. Rosen was ordainded as a Baptist minister in 1957 and was assigned to serve the American Board of Missions (missionaries) to the Jews. In this capacity Rev. Rosen became sensitized to the theological vulnerability of many American Jews. When approaching those who knew little about Jewish belief, Rosen represented himself as an 'authentic Jew', Moishe Rosen. Yet even the most assimilated Jews resisted formal conversion out of Judaism.

"By 1970 Rosen had developed a solution to his dilemma. Dov Aharoni Fisch writes:

synthesize a new missionary ideology, based on his earlier successes in confusing youn Jews from non- observant homes by asserting that it was he who was the authentic Jew, not their rabbis. Summoning all of ...marketing skills, he decided to send forth individuals portraying themselves as 'Jews made kosher by Jesus'. Preying on the lack of Jewish knowledge...Rosen would claim that his movement was not less Jewish than the typical Reform of Conservative Jewish temple . To help reinforce this deception, Rosen's evangelists occasionally would wear yarmulkas (skullcaps) or other Jewish symbols . (Dov Ahroni Fisch, Jews for Nothing, p.26)

Once a vulnerable Jew is "ensnared by this bait, vulnerable Jews are met with classic, cult-like 'love-bombing' via intense interpersonal contact by missionary operatives. These Jews are gradually persuaded that one need not leave Judaism to become 'completed as a Jew' through faith in Jesus and Christian doctrine." (Preserving Jewishness in Your Family, Alan Silverstein, p.3)

" 'Jews for Jesus' are probably the only people in the world who take on the beliefs of another religion yet deny that they are members of that religion. ...

Jews for Judaism

Many missionary-minded Gentile Christians exhibit a psychological need to consider themselves the spiritual Israel; they believe they have succeeded where the Jewish people have failed. They sometimes display their feelings by identifying with things of Jewish interest and nature. One may describe this phenomenon as Christian pseudo-Jewishness. Professional missionaries nurture Christian pseudo-Jewish aspirations and expressions because those so tendered help fill missionary coffers. They also see the emphasis on the supposed "Jewishness" of Christianity and its Gentile followers as a "culture cushion" for Jewish apostates entering the Christian spiritual world. Rosen attempts to lull his readers with the statement that, "The word 'Christian' . . . is equivalent to 'Messianist,' a follower of the Messiah. It becomes apparent that Gentiles who believe in Christ are really following a Jewish religion!"4 When was there ever "a Jewish religion" called Messianist? If one wants to call any and every sectarian aberration of Judaism "a Jewish religion," perhaps what is called for convenience "first century Jewish Christianity" would also qualify. But, the belief that the Messiah had already come did not initially set the followers of Jesus apart from the community of Israel. However, pagan influences moved them further and further away from their Jewish roots. Eventually, those Jewish followers of Jesus who did not conform to the emerging Christianity were marginalized by the Gentile church and within a short period of time disappeared.

Jews for Jesus: Is it really an oxymoran?

The name "Jews for Jesus" overturns this precept by advocating a love for Jesus as the Messiah who has already come. Certain members of the Jewish community feel this strikes at the foundation of Judaism, to a certain extent negating the perseverance with which the Jews endured such persecution as the Crusades and the Holocaust.

"Jews for Jesus is out to destroy the Jewish people," said Rabbi Cunin. "In America, they can't get away with killing us physically, so they pump millions of dollars into marketing to try to get Jewish people to convert. They are interested in seeing the annihilation of the Jewish people."
