The world is falling apart (just another day) and The Today Show is
Edited on Tue Nov-08-05 07:33 AM by no_hypocrisy
jerking off for its first five minutes with Matt Lauer at the Panama Canal (no story, just Matt).

Election Day, "We don't torture," Paris is burning, Scooter, Downing Street Memos, Iraq/2,055 dead soldiers, terrorism in Australia, budget deficit, housing bubble popping, and more, much more.

Edit: one-half hour later on "Good Morning America". Race to the bottom. "Who is Mike Bartz?" segment. To paraphrase Jack Benny, "There will be a moment to allow the audience to ask 'Who cares?'"

Is there no escape from this dribble?

2. OMG, I'm watching it right now...
...in a hotel room (here on business). I nearly did a spit-take with my coffee when I read your subject line!!! It could be Armageddon, but Matt and Katie would be blowing sunshine up everyone's butts with drivel like that!!! :puke:

I don't know why I still have the TV on that channel....

3. Isn't there a besotted blond bimbo missing from a resort island Someplace?
That is REAL news.
not 7 dead US soldiers
not 22 dead Indiana residents
not indictment of the chief of staff of our VP
not 100,000 women and children at risk in a harsh Pakistan winter
not Haliburton frauds
not the failure of the US to comply with US Sup. Ct rulings on trials and torture

4. They gots theirs--WHY ARE YOU SO NEGATIVE?
They've got their tax cuts from G W B and that's ALL that matters! All that crap you're talking about involves those icky poor people (bleech!)

(and I absolutely CANNOT STAND Diane Sawyer...I don't know if it's that constant G-D smirk or what but I cannot tolerate that biotch!)

:sarcasm:

5. Not to be harsh, but why do you watch then?
You could be reading newspapers, blogs, books, or other things more productive (and more satisfying) than watching TV.

Elitist hat off.

10. I hear if you play GMA tapes BACKWARDS
It chants "VOTE BUSH CHENEY IN 2008"

Which would explain Diane Sawyer's aformentioned permanent smirk.

12. ATTN CITIZEN!
For your own health, and the good of the people, please turn your attention back to the video screen, and continue the administration of your daily dose of positive affirmations.

It has been found that negative thoughts, and criticism of the people (as represented by the government) is detrimental to your health and the health of the nation. Failure to comply has been shown to result in NEGATIVE CONSEQUENCES to your health.

Happy thoughts make happy productive citizens. Happy productive citizens are good for the nation. For the good of the people, whatever is found to be bad for the people must be EXCISED, in the interests of our great nation.

Thank you.

I don't feel so stoopid now, since I haven't a clue, nor have I gone to the Great Google Oracle yet to find out....

15. the "escape"
is to watch Democracy Now or listen to the BBC or something.

I watched Democracy Now from 8:15-9 this morning - the show focuses on the phosphorus bombing of Fallujah - in light of the new Italian documentary that is making headlines all over the world.

Afterwards - I considered turning on the Today show - just to see what they had on - but then I figured - why bother? Really - it's like one big commercial for this or that anyway. Who needs it?
