"Wow, Brazil is big"
...At one point, Mr. da Silva even exhibited a map of his country, which is larger than the continental United States, and took Mr. Bush on a talking tour of his country. "Wow, Brazil is big," Mr. Amorim quoted the American president as responding.

Seriously

President Bush speaks with Brazil's President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva
during a joint news conference, at the Granja do Torto presidential
retreat in Brasilia, Sunday, Nov. 6, 2005.

6. The short bus president strikes again.
"Wow, Brazil is big." Like he assumes the US has always got to be BIGGER than any other country and he's surprised to find out it's not. Doesn't that fuckwit even own a globe?

14. I own a globe
I got A's in geography long ago.
I didn't know it was bigger.
I hope if I made an official trip there I'd refresh my knowledge.

I like both fucking and wit, but hope this all does not make me a fuckwit. (Unless it is as fun as the words in it imply)

22. But you aren't the president (thought I wish you were), and
you weren't on an official visit to Brazil. If you had been, I know you would have looked at your globe and read up on Brazil and learned something about it so you wouldn't have embarrassed yourself and your country. Unlike Bush. That's the point -- not that everybody should have known Brazil was bigger, etc., but under the circumstances, HE damn well should have.

I mean, you may not have know that it was larger than the continental US, but still. "Wow, Brazil is big" is just a moronic thing to say, especially for the President.

18. years ago, a guy threatened to sue the National Geographic Society
He claimed that they had sold him a "defective globe", and when asked to elaborate, he said that the US appeared smaller than Africa and South America, so it had to be wrong!

I wonder if Dubya wrote that letter?

8. And it is absolutely gorgeous
The people are full of life and optimism. Their carnival makes New Orleans Mardi Gras look like a church picnic.

They are so far from the U.S. that they tend not to be overwhelmed or intimidated by us, which is extremely helpful for their people.

I love their tit for tat thing with the U.S. Since the U.S. started insisting on pictures and fingerprinting for any Brazilian coming into the U.S., they did the same thing!!!

I love Brazil

You'd think he'd learn from his mistakes. He greatly insulted Chretien of Canada when he had to be shown on a map an area of Canada that's a few hundred miles from Kennebunkport. (Talk about willfully ignorant... you have to practice to be that stupid!)
BUT NO!! He doesn't bother to look at the flash cards and DVD his staff prepares for him. He's like a child in a man's (albeit somewhat simian) body and he doesn't have an edit function in his teeny brain. Sweet Jeebus, help us survive this monkeyman.
