Although Cheney spent his entire adult life on the governmoent dole, when he left the Sec'y of DOD in 93, he instantly got promoted to CEO of a major commercial corporation that just happens to do a great deal of government contracts - especially with the DOD.

11. I find it hard to believe

that the well-being of Haliburton was not factored into the decision to occupy Iraq. If that is, in fact, true, then Mr. Cheney has committed several crimes. His continuing to receive compensation from Halliburton is illegal under conflict of interest laws.

They've been around for decades. Kellogg, Brown & Root (KBR Engineering) supplied construction services in Vietnam. It is a no-brainer as to the 'how it is' that Cheney went from VP to CEO of Halliburton with the floorplan to what is now Iraq in his hip pocket. The neo-cons have been eye-balling that scenario for decades as well hence it is here

Seriously, though, it makes me wonder how long he's been planning for this war. Did he cook the idea up while he was at Halliburton? After all, they were paying him serious bucks, and a war in Iraq is a great way for them to make a LOT of money.

so they can land cushy jobs with big $$ when they actually have no particular business experience.

Alas, all is marketting.... well, in most cases anyway. Seems like this tainted view of public service soley as a means of getting a 'real job' is likely a cause of some of the friction between Cheney types and the folks who truly believe in service in the national interest, like some of the career operatives at, hmmm, let's see, the CIA for example. Then Cheney has the hubris to try and push those folks around to get them to provide justification for his predetermined agenda. Then a NOC gets outed. The guy may be clever at promoting himself, but he isn't a people person, is he?
