Hold the Phone! (from Scotty's press briefing)
Scotty's talking point just changed a bit.

"We have been directed by the WHITE HOUSE COUNSEL'S OFFICE not to comment."

Didn't Fitz go to the WH Counsel? Maybe there is something going on there. Maybe Scotty really was told not to comment by HIS LAWYERS.

21. Point of information: Fitzgerald did NOT visit the WH counsel's office on
Friday. He visited Bush's personal lawyer for the Plame case.

Key facts about White House counsel Harriet Miers
Thursday 27 October 2005, 8:22am EST

Oct 27 (Reuters) - President George W. Bush's embattled nominee for the U.S. Supreme Court, White House counsel Harriet Miers, withdrew from consideration on Thursday.

Miers, 60, told Bush in a letter she was concerned the Senate confirmation process was a burden on the White House that "is not in the best interest of the country."

Now it's like he's in the hot seat himself.

6. I thought I caught that, too...
Wasn't sure if he mis-spoke or if the source for the command "don't talk about this" has changed, but it's certainly an interesting change.

10. Reportedly Fitz was seen at Bush's private lawyer's office on Friday.
I think the NYT reported that, but they report a lot of things.

Considering there's been one indictment (and I suspect they suspect more may be pending and at least know the investigation has not yet concluded) Scottie as WH spokesman should indeed STFU. And citing the WH Counsel's office would be the correct thing to do.

12. I can't watch.
I have it on but it's making me sick. After the breath of fresh air that was Patrick Fitzgerald, going back to this lying shit and watching this idiot slippery as an eel, dodging and dancing around I can't stand it.

22. I noticed that also
Scotty used to say 'the Special Counsel does not want us to discuss this while the investigation is ongoing' so it was surprising that he said 'the WH Counsel' this time.

I felt sorry for Scotty today, he almost seemed to be appealing to reporters to not judge him yet, that there are things he wishes he could say but can't, and doesn't want them to lose trust in him.

Of course, he could always quit, as Col. Powell and Tenet should have done. Walk away from this criminal cabal.

Diplomat Kiesling did that, so did Rand Beers, AIRC. They got far away from them right before the war started.

Col. Powell's aide said he wishes he had never been involved 'with this war' ~ so maybe, if Scotty wants to retain any kind of credibility he should quit now. They lied to him, and caused him to be embarrassed when he repeated their lies. That's enough to say 'I've had enough'!
