I expect a SCOTUS battle in the Senate to take Treasongate off the front
pages.

Alito, maybe Luttig, will be the nominee.

The Dems need to hit the ground running on Day one against either, railing against them being radical extremists. It must be a filibuster! The announcement will come tomorrow.

Treasongate be damned, that one runs on Fitzgerald's time frame and won't go away that easily.

1. I swear ROve was behind the Miers nomination
knowing she would step down at the most opportune moment, just for this effect.

2. The trial is going to last a LONG time and eat up a lot of ink.
These guys are almost out of tricks.

5. Well yes, but I read that Fibby's trial won't start -
until another whole long YEAR passes by. If that's true, it would talk nothing for Fibby's lawyers to push the start of the trial just past the 06 Election.

3. There's a theory that they want to pick a fight with the Dems now,
since the Repubs have been fighting with each other.

Harry Reid was so good on This Week, I think it was.

I'm thinking that our Dems in congress must have taken in all
this in a way that is likely to continue to transform them in some useful way.

I'm not exactly sure how, but I'd be surprised to not see it in how they react.

4. This is exactly what will happen, according to the great Candy Crowley
The SCOTUS nomination "will blow the Place case out of the water and everyone will forget about it."

Candy, you make me :puke:

7. Time to take the high
moral ground: we need a SCJ for all of the people, not an appointment that panders to any special interest. Remember, the complaints about Harri not being intellectual enough and having no judicial experience were part of the ultra-fundies' slime line.
