Is Bush's "Up or Down Vote" arguement dead?
One of Bush's big argumements for his judicial nominees is that they should have an up or down vote...well, now that Harriet Miers decided she couldn't comply with any requests for information by the Judiciary Committee (the cover story--it's the right wing which really screwed her nomination)--can't the democrats say, "Well, we were perfectly willing to let Ms. Miers have an up or down vote, but she decided to withdraw--because the right wing of her own party applied pressure...so, if we find one of the president's future nominees to be so far out of the mainstream we will not hesitate to use the filibuster--if need be."

1. since when do restrictions on democrats apply to banana republicans?
silly constraints like rules, laws, ethics, and the truth are for weak-minded democrats, not strong, patriotic banana republicans.

didn't you get unka rove's memo?

:sarcasm:

2. Will be revived when he unveils his next batshit crazy wing-nut nominee
"Up or Down Vote" is reserved for bashing Dem senators on the head, not for bashing Repug senators.

3. Upperdown vote is only invoked when Democrats block judges, not
when Republicans do. It is not dead, just resting.
