Has Miers gotten a target letter? Could that have been the reason
for the withdraw?

I started thinking about this earlier - she was part of the WH lawyers group when BushCo was notified - and her boss, Gonzales made that delay in giving the WH a heads up - possibly allowing people to get their papers and stories together. If Fitz were to indict Gonzales for obstruction, he could also be doing same for Miers.

Some of the DU lawyers agree or am I dead wrong, not being a lawyerly type, just an impatient speculator.

2. That would be cool.
Too bad he lost her; he was counting on Miers to keep his ass out of jail.

3. Would explain 'Papers? We don't need to give you papers!'
when Harriet might have been kept in the running with a little more WH cooperation about her work.

5. Possible, but I doubt it. I think she just chickened out!
Hardened politicians can take the verbal abuse and just ignore it. Look at Harriet again! She looks, and acts like I did when I was in High School (and I'm 62!). Her hair style, the way she hangs back behind everyone, and no sign of forcefulness at all.

I can just see her crying herself to sleep every night for the last week! My guess is that she went to Shrub last night, with tears in her eyes, and said "Boss, I just can't take this anymore!"

7. That's what I think ... wasn't John Dean Counsel to the White House too?
I think this administration is in deep trouble, but I think we are looking at years to sort it out.
