The good side of Fitzmas delayed
http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/10/25/cia.leak/index.html

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Only one in 10 Americans said they believe Bush administration officials did nothing illegal or unethical in connection with the leaking of a CIA operative's identity, according to a national poll released Tuesday.

With the constant grinding of the RW spin machine, had Fitz just popped up with indictments, then the typical "over zealous, partisan prosecuter" would have been all the average American got to hear right away. By the long delay, and the tiniest of little leaks - the MSM has been able to do nothing but speculate (and most of that came from reading the blogs) and the administration apologists have had nothing that they could stick to, no specifics to try to spin - so they've not been able to get any traction on covering this over like they've been so used to doing.

Now, only 1 out of 10 think ShrubCo is in the right about this - a HUGH!@! 90% of the folks have been able to see, hear and read all the speculation before the VRWC was able to spin it in a direction that they wanted it to go and they are willing to call BFEE bullshit.

We've never had that type of traction in the past 5 years.

1. I think you are right
Fitzgerald has done his job-a prosecutor who wants to find out the truth and to punish the guilty. He hasn't made the investigation into a circus, complete with tabloid headlines, etc. Since the indictments are sealed, the repukes don't know exactly what is going to happen-they are spinning in the dark. I bet they are wondering exactly how much stuff he's found out.

2. I suspect Fitz is dragging this out to do the most damage possible
Clearly once you've seen what he has undoubtedly seen, you have to have a pretty strongly negative impression of this administration and it's intentions. So I wouldn't be surprised if he's actually dragging this out so as to do more damage to the administration politically. Every day this drags out is one day more that it's the number one story on local and national news. Contrast this to the coverage of the Delay indictment which seemed to come and go in a single day.

3. The thing about that is
A lot of repukes (I'm related to some of them, though I try to not go down that road) DON'T CARE if it was illegal. They figure that the rules are stupid, and * is right, even if it's illegal.

4. Good point!
The more the media speculates, the more it gains momentum in covering it. It's not easy on us, but it's certainly beneficial for us that the media is as interested & anxious as we are.

5. Face it, all the MSM is good at is baseless speculation and sensationalism
So this delay is working very much to our benefit.

I don't think it has much to do with why Fitz is taking his time. He's finding that the longer he looks, the more crooks and crimes he discovers. He'll keep catching bad guys for as long as possible. Fine by me.

7. I totally agree.
Like you, I think Fitzgerald is only being thorough. And the media's usual game of endless speculation is finally playing into our hands, for a change. This case is our Aruba marathon, except for its value: People actually need to hear about this story.

6. good point, and
Another good aspect of Fitzmas delayed, speaking for myself here -- I think the sense of anticipation finally peaked, leaving a more realistic perspective. I think I was focusing too much on the enormous relief it would bring to see them finally being held accountable for at least some of their evil doings.

This delay has forced me to catch my breath at bit, maybe take a longer view. Watching the wheels turn so slowly, I'm in awe of the fact that the Founding Fathers knew there'd always be a new batch of Reptilians who'll stop at nothing to gain and abuse power.

Most of us have been hankering, *for years*, for a definitive victory over the Bush cretins. But even if these indictments herald their downfall, they or their spiritual descendants will be back for another round, and we or our spiritual descendants will have to engage them once again.

I just need to keep in mind that, as much as visions of sugarplums are dancing in my head thinking about those indictments, it still won't be over and we won't be able to rest.

9. At least we're no longer facing them, unarmed.
We have a nice big shiny gun and we're blasting away.
