Those poor persecuted Christians (Not directed at average Christians)
Christian RW'ers (Note the emphasis on "RW'ers" please) are always claiming that they are persecuted.

An example of this that will probably make you sick is that Pat Robertson once compared the 'persecution' of Christians IN AMERICA to Jews IN THE HOLOCAUST.
:wow:

Who owns Sunday Morning Broadcasting?
RW 'christians'

Who has a large amount of influence in the political process?
RW 'christians'

What supposedly is **, Bill Frist, Rick Santorum, Tom DeLay, etc.?
RW 'christians'

Who's called for the assassination of an Elected Leader recently?
A RW 'christian'

Who basically owns the State of Texas and soon Ohio?
RW 'christians'

If you want to talk about Persecution, I know some people who might want to tell you some things.

I know a Christian who escaped from Nigeria's Genocide Squads.

I know a Muslim who escaped from Civil War in Somalia.

I know another Muslim who escaped from the Theocracy in Iran.

THOSE are prime examples as to what Persecution is.

So, unless I see the Islamic Channel or the Atheist Channel on my TV, I am going to go postal the next time some RW 'christian' makes the claim that they are persecuted.

1. Evidently it is a good thing in some peoples' minds
to be a victim. Or to think they are.

2. It Is Disgusting How They Use "Persecution"
They have no idea what persecution is, because they are to busy persecuting.

4. I'm getting sick of the "Christian" persecution
They are becoming a terrorist group. See my post about our local bank flying a Christian flag.
The Christians that I know totally agree with me. These making these claims are extremists, not unlike the Taliban.

5. As John Stewart said, we have a perfect streak of 43 Xtian Presidents
It is amusing when people who often scorn true victims try to act like victims.

6. But it IS like the Holocaust!
I have a Christian work camp right outside my door. All the Christians are put there for forced labor, with workdays that go up to 20 hours, seven days a week. They're only fed a piece of bread and a glass of water once a day. And they execute Christians en masse with gas chambers and ovens.
Those poor Christians...:sarcasm:

8. It is interesting
I've thumbed thruogh David Limbaugh's (the "smart" Limbaugh Brother) book on Persecution, and I couldn't see it myself. A lot of it was of coures apochyful stories, some of which would be bad (assuming the happened). But he seemed to be claiming a pattern on the bases of a very few scant examples. Plus the book was somewhat painful to reave.

I think for many Chrisians the fact that we don't dominate any more than we do is persecution; I don't understand that myself, but I think that is the mentality of some of them.

9. They are
Our society continues to progress. We hold to secularly developed understanding of morality. Moral relativism guides our society.

They are condemned when they condemn behaviour they believe to be evil. They are called backwards and hateful for clinging to their beliefs.

Their beliefs are being assailed by science and reason on a daily basis. Their children are taught things that are against their primary beliefs. Their sense of truth is denied or laughed out of classrooms.

To their point of view they are the oppressed. To lose sight of this is to lose sight of the problem. It is to lose sight of just what they are fighting for. Where their passion comes from.

Yes I believe they are wrong. Yes I believe many of the things they stand for are hateful and destructive to our society. I oppose their actions every step of the way because I see their intent as the destruction of the things I hold in value about this society.

And there is the problem. Ours is a tolerant society. But in the midst of tolerance there can exist beliefs from an older time that refuse to accept the advances of society. That can resist the learning of science. And in time their views become so divergent from societies that they begin to see society as corrupt and oppressive. Where we see understanding and tolerance they see evil.

There is no means of reconciliation. Government as we know it, Their way, or Our way must fade away. It is a war of cultures.
