Yesterday there was a page and a half of bk filings
in our local paper, the most I've ever seen. I've been watching how many filings there have been, some people were aware of what was coming, some are going to be caught suprised though.
My wifes cousin's husband has bone cancer, so far his medical bills are over one million dollars, there's no way in the wide world of sports they'll ever pay for this.
We told her way back last spring what was coming, granted, she had other things on her mind, but she's going to get bit hard.
Her husband just had an experimental procedure that may buy him another year, but the phone is going to start ringing (if it hasn't already) demanding money.
I feel so sorry for her she's going to lose everything, her husband, her home, everything, and she's just the tip of the iceburg.

1. I bought a huge-deductible insurance policy that should prevent this
sort of thing, although it won't pay our every-day medical bills. However, if we exceed our gigantic deductible, the (very cheap) policy should keep us out of bankruptcy court.

I'd love to put our family on my husband's employer's policy, but it would cost us $800/month!!!
