Am amazed at hurricane supplies.
Went out to do last minute shopping & everything is still available. Was even able to get ice!

1. Everyone still has their stuff from Katrina & Rita.
We didn't need to buy anything at all this time.

7. Woah ...
be careful, OK?

We expect it to be weaker by the time it gets here, but we're prepared for whatever it brings ... I hope.

Stay safe.

8. That *is* amazing for that part of the state.

I'll bet Publix is getting crowded now though.

Good luck.

17. Good luck to you. As my boss always says, "these things
prune your trees for you." Hope that's all that happens. I am in Dunedin and feeling pretty safe.

heaters anywhere here!

21. yeah, we're gonna need those soon
but that's normal stuff... the worst natural disaster we can get here is tornadoes and the odds that they will touch down in a cornfield instead of a residential area are pretty high.

22. I lived in Wisconsin from 1959 to 1996. I think driving in snow &
ice is a lot riskier than hurricanes are, although they can really wreck your stuff. I have vivid memories of long, barely controlled or uncontrolled skids, semis getting sideways in front of me going the opposite way, sudden whiteouts and black ice.

5. I was expecting a zoo at the grocery store and it was pretty typical.
I can hear a lot of hammering around the neighborhood as the plywood goes up but not much of a run on supplies. I'm guessing Central Floridians still have a lot of stuff left from last year and did some stocking at the beginning of the season. As it is, even though we're officially under a hurricane warning we don't know if we'll get tropical storm force gusts or Cat 1 force gusts. Being on the east coast has its advantages this time. Though Irene did put a tree through my roof in 1999 and she came from the Gulf. Here's hoping for a really wimped out Wilma.

Stay safe!

18. Please take care.
Found out my friend did get stuck in Cancun. She was evacuated to a building with stone walls. She said there are armed guards posted at each door and they are not being allowed out. Food is being brought in to them. They are hoping an airport will be operational and she'll be home by Tuesday or Wednesday, but from what I've heard, it doesn't look promising. She was due to fly home Thursday evening and the airports had to shut down Thur. afternoon.

Hope everyone in FL is safe. Anybody know what is officially left in "hurricane" season - isn't it something like 36 days?
