FLU 'ODDITIES' BREAKING NEWS

http://www.legitgov.org/flu_oddities.html

Warning over 'unique' spread of avian flu 22 Oct 2005 The avian flu - recently arrived in the UK - which is causing chaos around the world is "unique" because of the simultaneous way in which it is spreading, a veterinary expert has warned. (LOL, 'unique.' Looks like the Bush bioterror team is a busy little bee, poised to start the mandatory vaccines, with no legal liablity for the pharma-terrorists.)

Russian MP Calls Bird Flu "American Provocation" 21 Oct 2005 A deputy of the ultranationalist Liberal Democratic faction of the Russian State Duma, Aleksei Mitrofanov, has said in a parliamentary speech that bird flu was invented by Americans who wanted to dominate the world’s poultry markets.

3. LOL, I know that's silly, but pls. read the items about the mandatory
vaccines and no legal liability for the pharma-terrorists.

4. "Bird flu was invented
by Americans who wanted to dominate the world's poultry markets." That's actually hilarious, it's so wrong. Nope, this little virus managed to appear all by itself, thanks to the wonders of evolution.

Flu often spreads quite rapidly. Waterfowl, both wild and domestic, always harbor flu viruses. In China, the habit of raising swine and ducks together is the main reason flu that infects humans is always out there, always mutating. But even without that particular brand of animal husbandry, something like this could easily have been out there in the wild, unnoticed for a long time. What's special about this particular version of avian flu is that it's so devastating to poultry. I'm inclined to think that the really big worry out there is not that humans will become infected, but that much of the world's poultry could be destroyed.

The National Vaccine Information Center (NVIC) is calling the "Biodefense and Pandemic Vaccine and Drug Development Act of 2005"(S. 1873), which passed out of the U.S. Senate HELP Committee one day after it was introduced "a drug company stockholder's dream and a consumer's worst nightmare." The proposed legislation will strip Americans of the right to a trial by jury if harmed by an experimental or licensed drug or vaccine that they are forced by government to take whenever federal health officials declare a public health emergency.

The legislation's architect, Senator Richard Burr (R-NC), Chairman of the HELP Subcommittee on Bioterrorism and Public Health Preparedness, told the full HELP Committee yesterday that the legislation "creates a true partnership" between the federal government, the pharmaceutical industry and academia to walk the drug companies "through the Valley of Death" in bringing a new vaccine or drug to market. Burr said it will give the Department of Health and Human Services "additional authority and resources to partner with
the private sector to rapidly develop drugs and vaccines." The Burr bill gives the Secretary of DHHS the sole authority to decide whether a manufacturer violated laws mandating drug safety and bans citizens from challenging his decision in the civil court system.

7. So?
The notion that the U.S. invented this virus and infected millions of domestic and wild fowl, water fowl, and so on, is just ludicrous. Which isn't to give pharmaceuticals a free ride, but think a little about what would be involved, and you'll understand that nature on its own came up with this avian flu, and protecting manufacturers of vaccines is simply a separate issue.

8. 'So' - why was the US digging up the bodies of 1918 flu victims?
For what purpose?

See:
U.S. to create a bird flu virus mutation 24 Mar 2005 The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has begun a series of experiments to see how likely the bird flu virus could result in a human pandemic. The six-month series of experiments seeks to simulate the mixing and matching of genes from the H5N1 avian flu virus that has plagued Asia and a common human flu virus that public-health experts fear could turn avian flu into a pandemic, the Wall Street Journal reported Thursday. CDC scientists inside an ultra-secure laboratory (?!?) have started swapping the genes of the H5N1 avian virus with the genes of an H3N2 virus, the strain behind most recent human flu outbreaks.

Gene From 1918 Virus Proves Key to Virulent Influenza (University of Wisconsin Press Release) 06 Oct 2004 "Using a gene resurrected from the virus that caused the 1918 Spanish influenza pandemic, recorded history's most lethal outbreak of infectious disease, scientists have found that a single gene may have been responsible for the devastating virulence of the virus. Writing Oct. 7 in the journal Nature, virologist Yoshihiro Kawaoka of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the University of Tokyo, describes experiments in which engineered viruses were made more potent by the addition of a single gene. The work is evidence that a slight genetic tweak is all that is required to transform mild strains of the flu virus into forms far more pathogenic and, possibly, more transmissible... Using a comparatively mild form of influenza A virus as a template, Kawaoka's team added the two 1918 genes that code for hemagglutinin and neuraminidase and infected mice with the engineered viruses."

9. because
there had long been a mystery about the flu, the way it was so virulent, killed so many, and then simply disappeared.

It seems as if you're trying to suggest that the current avian flu (H5N1 virus) was manufactured by the U.S. government, which strikes me as utterly nonsensical. Yeah, I know that various labs play around with viruses, which strikes me personally as utterly irresponsible, and of course the excuse always given is that others out there are doing it. It's the reason the last of the smallpox stocks haven't been destroyed.

But to say that this avian flu came from a lab and has been let loose so that now millions of wild and domestic birds are infected doesn't fly.
