"Some big news in the Virginia governor’s race. An exclusive 9 News poll finds that Democrat Tim Kaine is ahead for the very first time but it is a margin that leaves this fight still too close call." http://www.wusatv9.com/news/news_article.aspx?storyid=43805

"Democratic Sen. Jon Corzine appears to lead Republican businessman Doug Forrester in the New Jersey governor's race, a poll released Wednesday found. Corzine was supported by 50 percent to 43 percent for Forrester..." http://www.guardian.co.uk/worldlatest/story/0,1280,-5355158,00.html

If the Dems can win both of these races, that would mean great things for 2006 and 2008.

1. When are these elections? Are they this Nov?
Sorry, I guess I should know. I've been reading about both candidates, but I foolishly believed all the major elections were in 06.

3. Yes, they are this November 2005 and I hope
DUers are doing what they can for these elections in between posting in "who do you support for 2008?" threads.

There are currently 28 Rep governors and 22 Dem governors.
Virginia and New Jersey currently have Dem governors. Warner of Virginia is not able to run. Codey of NJ chose not to run.

Here is the current map of governors...

4. KICK for everyone who would rather hypothesize about Plamegate
than talk about these 2005 elections.

5. Thanks skipos....
these are two very important races this year ! Two Dems to win now, so it's easier for more Dems to win in '06 !!

I know we're being swiftboated here in Va., wonder how it's going NJ, though Corzine appears to have a comfy lead ?
