2. What a wonderful place!
"The coffe's strong at the Cafe DuMonde
And the doughnuts are too hot to touch.
Just like a fool, when those sweet goodies cool,
I eat till I eat way too much.
'Cause I'm living on things that excite me
Be it pastry or lobsters or love.
I'm just tryin' to get by,
Being quiet and shy,
In a world full of pushin' and shovin'."

J. Buffett "The Wino and I Know"

4. Lets do it W-D
Powdered sugar all over our face. Throw a bite to the pigeons. Slurping coffee and enjoying the budding Crepe Myrtle in Jackson Square. And I think to myself, what a wonderful world!

Ain't that one of the world's necessary food groups? Powdered sugar and pastry washed down by Coffee and Chicory. Lord won't you buy me a Mercedes-Benz. Ya got me singing oldies and howling at the moon.

17. Hi BOSSHOG! Beignets & cafe au lait are Mr. CB's fave food groups!
Any NOLA native has beignets & cafe au lait at the top of their food groups list along with erster po' boys and softshell crab and gumbo! Mmm! We hope to go downt o Lacombe over the T-Day weekend. We will be there for Mardi Gras! Bring on the powdered sugar and beer! :woohoo:

11. Finally, some GOOD news.
I love your city, and I have happy memories of times spent there. A photo taken in Cafe du Monde hangs in my dining room--I got it as a wedding present.

My husband and I spent our honeymoon there, and vowed to come back one day.

This year was out ten year anniversary, and I went with him to Las Vegas instead of holding out for a return to Louisiana. I was absolutely heartsick when the hurricane hit--not just for the loss of life and sadness it brought, but because I was so afraid I'd never get to see things and feel like I did when I was there last time.

Knowing Cafe Du Monde is restored gives me hope...

20. That's such great news...
I was there in March. It's just one of those places you don't miss when you're in New Orleans. Good sign of recovery.

On a stranger note a month after I was in NO, I went to Yokohama on business. We were in a mall there and on the second floor was... Yep. A Cafe Dumond. I kid you not. The Japanese "ya'lls" didn't translate too well but it was cool eating beignets and drinking Cafe o'laits in Japan.

21. Three cheers for NOLA..
Been there only twice years ago, but feel sweet about it anyway.

Be whole again ..

What I really wish for NOLA is that the ordinary people who lived there could have their city back.

23. Good for New Orleans
Although I can't stand their coffee, dislike their beignets, and have never been happy with their service, it's obvious I'm in the minority.

It's good they're open. One more step to rehabilitating New Orleans. Now if they'll let the poor people back things will be really good.

24. The Poor Service
is part of the charm. That's why I like going at 2:00 in the morning; smaller crowd, better service.
