Astounding. Silly observation perhaps, but astounding nonetheless.
On Wednesday afternoons I have a commute that takes me across town on the three busiest streets in the area. It's at least 45 minutes of driving each way. My county went for GWB (or was recorded as going for GWB) by 60% in November 2004. My precinct approached 70% :( I can always count on passing numerous cars with W stickers on the back. I know this because I frequently have the urge to peek at the driver to see what kind of idiot is driving those cars.

Halfway to my destination this afternoon I realized I hadn't seen a single W sticker. Not a one. So I started actively looking. Usually I see a good dozen without even paying attention. I watched like a hawk on the way back home, even scouring parking lots. Nothing! I figured I'd at least see the one that is usually parked in my neighborhood around the corner from my house. The car was there alright. The W sticker was not.

I don't suppose this means much in the scheme of things but I'm nothing short of astounded. This happened fast...very fast.

4. Either the stickers are biodegradeable...
Or W and the Republicans have finally crossed over the line of what's acceptable to your average right wing citizen.

2. don't know why, but I see fewer and fewer, too. Maybe all those
folks that drive SUV's are trading them in (with sticker attached) for smaller, more fuel effecient cars..LOL

8. I've noticed that too
In fact I saw *one* W04 oval in the mall parking lot last night and it kind of stuck out. Like you I tend to notice them, and I'm seeing very few.

This past weekend I was at the Miramar Airshow and last year there were many, many, pro-Bush, Teeshirts and lots of people with Bush bumperstickers on their clothes. This year, I did not see one. Not one single solitary Bush mention in a crowd of half a million people on a marine base.

23. well, last year was an election year
you'd expect to see more of them in an election year than a non-election year. and yes, I still have my Kerry sticker on my car.

24. True, but you wouldn't expect them all to disappear almost
over night. I tried again when I went to teach a class tonight and nothing either way. Still Kerry/Edwards stickers though. The Bush/Cheney 2000 and Sore/Loserman stickers lasted several years here.

11. My Wife Noticed the Same Thing
She works in Dallas, the land of total Shrub worship, and she says that the number of W stickers is a tenth of what it was around the election.

16. I forgot to mention...until I just saw a thread in the Lounge
that reminded me. I saw 5 K/E stickers on the same drive. Doesn't sound like terribly many, but when you consider the demographics and the utter lack of W stickers it's interesting.

17. Maybe because it's been a year since last election...
and another year before the next major elections? What would be the point of having an election sticker on your car when there's no election?

19. The point? Oh let's see...
rubbing it in your face

self-righteousness

showing support in contentious times

I actually did have someone tell me just two weeks ago that he kept the W sticker on his car because he wanted "those damned liberals to know that he voted for the winner." I'm fighting the urge to give him a call and ask if it is still there.

The 2000 stickers took at least two to three years to disappear around here. And it was gradual. Not like this.

20. Today I saw....
....the remains of a K/E sticker on a car bumper. I wonder if the driver scraped it off, or some right-wing asshat?

BTW, my immediate neighborhood is liberal (like me)? Some cars still have K/E, OBAMA, and "Re-Defeat Bush" stickers on them! :)

22. I know what happened to one of them...
Here in Ohio, the Vote Fraud State (as it says on the State Seal), there are still way too many W stickers for my peace of mind. I saw one, not on a bumper, but on the plastic tire cover of an SUV, from which it peeled off rather easily (does this hint at a lack of commitment on the part of W supporters?). It's now decorating a urinal, and has been well "decorated" itself.
