4. Just make sure to use Fitzgerald Bourbon
Edited on Wed Oct-19-05 12:22 PM by Mabus
2 cups granulated sugar
2 cups water (branch water is ideal)
Fresh Mint
Crushed Ice
Kentucky Bourbon (2 ounces per serving)

Make a simple mint syrup* by boiling sugar and water together for 5 minutes; cool. Place in a covered container with 6 or 8 bruised mint sprigs. Refrigerate overnight.
Make a julep by filling a julep cup* or glass with crushed ice, then adding 1 tablespoon of mint syrup and 2 ounces of bourbon. Stir rapidly with a spoon to frost outside of cup or glass. Garnish with a fresh mint sprig..

*This makes enough syrup for about 44 juleps.

About "Very Special Old Fitzgerald Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey":

Made with a "whisper of wheat" according to a time-honored formula, Very Special Old Fitzgerald is aged 12 full years in new charred oak barrels and bottled at 90 proof, making it a true super-premium Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. This Bourbon is critically acclaimed for its distinct, complex nose and taste. In their authoritative Book of Bourbon, Gary and Mardee Regan state that "The balanceis as perfect as any we've tasted - it's a whiskey that shows off the whiskey-maker's craft."

9. It is 90 proof
so, you can say, it has met its burden (or should I say, bourbon) of proof beyond a reasonable doubt.

5. weenie crown
In honor of the typical red state voter, I suggest you serve 'weenie crown:' you place weenies on end and tie them together with string to form the 'crown.' Place a 'wreath' of sauerkraut around the 'crown,' and fill the 'crown' with Cheeze-wiz. Place in micro; turn on 'high' until it starts smelling 'real good.'
