http://www.mysanantonio.com/sharedcontent/APStories/sto... To help accommodate the hurricane evacuees in the Fort Bend Independent School District, an anonymous donor from Saudi Arabia has given $1.25 million worth of portable classroom buildings and educational supplies.
"This will enable us to better meet the needs of our students by helping us provide adequate classroom space and instructional materials," Fort Bend ISD superintendent Betty Baitland said Tuesday.
The donor wanted to remain anonymous, said Brenna Smelley, executive director of the Fort Bend Education Foundation, a private group that provides private money to the school district.
"That includes everything that goes in the building — desks, the chalkboards, even the walkways and canopies leading up to the building. It's a totally contained portable building," she said. The donation also will cover $5,000 worth of tennis shoes for low-income students.
