The Neo-Con / Far Right Schism
A rift is opening up between the Neo-Cons and the Traditional yet Extreme Far Right.

How can we exploit this?

1. They're so arrogant, egotistical, and power mad they'll do the dirty
work for us. We just have to get the word out on what they do.

2. Go after the moderates, who are in neither camp.
They're already disgusted by the far right; now they're getting a clue about the neocons.

5. "Squishy Republicans" oozing towards Democrats
These are the Northeast 'Rockefeller Republicans' that are generally liberal on social issues/fiscal conservative types.

I know many 'republican for Kerry' voters (I was one myself in 04) who detest the social regressive/fiscally irresponsible/war-mongering Republicans now in power.

3. I see it as a three way split. NeoCONS, Evangelical/religious right
and old Guard Moneyed Republicans.

As for exploitation- freeze the NeoCONS out of the DLC and the rest will take care ot itself.

6. Where are the fundies? Not sure I understand your classifications.
There is growing unease, as described in "Whats the Matter with Kansas" among the traditional pro business, pro wealth wing and the anti abortion, jihadist fundies. The example given in that book is the fundies want prayer in schools, bush gave them a tax break for the wealthy. the fundies want abortion criminalized, bush gives them a war. The *ites have used the fundies but have not, to date, delivered anything. The fundies voted * in, but all they have is a proposed elimination of the estate tax.

Where does this description fit with your observation of the 'traditionals' versus 'neocons'? I'm not sure the fundies are the true 'traditionals', the latter being big money, pro business, pro corporation types.

8. It'll be hard to create a Schism then
They wish to take America back to a time that never existed.

The Far Right and the 'christian' Right are somewhat one and the same.

I won't say that they are the same thing or entirely different groups.

But, I don't think we can create a Schism between the Fundamentalists and the Far Right.
