He is gonna retire. That is telling of the future isn't it? The WMD line was funny. What was it that O'Lielly said if they didn't find weapons of mass destruction he was gonna do what....??

| 3. Well I think in 2003 he said he'd never trust Bush again, |
|
apologize on air, and support the Democratic presidential nominee. Yep. Well, he did one.

| 7. He's Ted Baxter but he can do schtick |
|
It was a good comedy segment and O'Reilly made it work.
If all he ever did was yuckety yuck I would even like the dumb son of a bitch.
Segment reminds me of a Steely Dan line:
Show business kids makin' movies of themself They don't give a fuck about anybody else.

| 12. I actually... dislike O'Reilly a little less after that interview. |
|
He's just an entertainer. A huckster. He's just cashing in on selling fascism. I don't think he believes his own bullshit.
A guy who makes a living doing an Archie Bunker impression and selling war is despicable to be sure, but I've become somewhat numbed to the fascism of late.

| 13. Was Bill doing a parody of himself? |
|
I thought it was a anti-climactic. Other than a couple of zaps, Stewart went pretty easy on Bill.
O reilly on the other hand seemed to be doing a parody of himself. It was like he was a pro wrestling villain. Like when he pointed to the crowd and said "Don't make me come up there." kind of odd, I thought.

| 14. This is who he really is -- |
|
a not very bright TV "personality" like Pat Sajak or the late Burt Convy. His wingnut "political" franchise is a hugely lucrative act.
Many radio wingnut hosts are also pure whores who have no real interest in politics at all -- or so some friends in radio have told me. I believe them. I guy who knew him in Sacramento told me Limbaugh himself never gave a shit about politics at all before he hit on his brilliant scheme of syndicating a political version of the "shock jock" format.
I have long imagined a TV commercial starring O'Reilly or Hannity that begins with the "star" in a scene burning books or painting a swastika on a synogogue, and then stepping off the set as the camera dollies back to reveal a sound stage:
"Hi. I'm not really a fascist monster, but I play one on TV. . . . Even Hitler couldn't resist squeezably soft Charmin"
