9. John Hannah should be in that list somewhere.
Published on Thursday, February 5, 2004 by UPI/Insight
Cheney's Staff Focus of Probe
by Richard Sale

Federal law-enforcement officials said that they have developed hard evidence of possible criminal misconduct by two employees of Vice President Dick Cheney's office related to the unlawful exposure of a CIA officer's identity last year. The investigation, which is continuing, could lead to indictments, a Justice Department official said.

According to these sources, John Hannah and Cheney's chief of staff, Lewis "Scooter" Libby, were the two Cheney employees. "We believe that Hannah was the major player in this," one federal law-enforcement officer said. Calls to the vice president's office were not returned, nor did Hannah and Libby return calls.

The strategy of the FBI is to make clear to Hannah "that he faces a real possibility of doing jail time" as a way to pressure him to name superiors, one federal law-enforcement official said. http://www.commondreams.org/headlines04/0205-12.htm

10. Is Common Dreams a reliable source? I haven't seen
Hannah's name being mentioned as a grand jury witness or as an interviewee anytime before. Same with Hadley.

It's odd about that. But that's why I've left them off.

UPI article.

Juan Cole had a column on Sale's article. http://www.juancole.com/2004/02/john-hannah-allegedly-focus-of-plame.html Juan Cole regards Sale as a credible reporter. Cole himself is no slouch.

14. Bolton was interviewed by the State Department's Inspector
General about another matter. It didn't involve Plame's outing as far as I know.

I've never seen any reports that stated Bolton was subponaed or interviewed by Fitz or the grand jury.

fabricated reports that Iraq was trying to get materials from Niger to build nuclear weapons. http://www.nytimes.com/2005/07/29/politics/29bolton.html?ex=1129780800&en=e4ac42e4bd5ab4f6&ei=5070

NBC's David Shuster had reported that Bolton testified: "According to lawyers, former Secretary of State Colin Powell and undersecretaries, including John Bolton, gave testimony about this memo. And a lawyer for one State Department official says his client testified that, as President Bush was flying to Africa on Air Force One two years ago, Press Secretary Ari Fleischer could be seen reading the document on board." (July 21, 2005 Hardball transcript: http://msnbc.msn.com/id/8666472/ )

But apparently State Dept subsequently denied in a briefing that Bolton was interviewed as part of the Fitzgerald investigation. After that Shuster said he went back to his source for clarification and said it was inaccurate to say Bolton had testified.

13. Sorry. I haven't seen anything about Tweety being interviewed
or subpoenaed.

Tweety called Wilson after Novak's article ran and mentioned that Rove had told him that Wilson's wife was "fair game".

That's all I've ever heard about Tweety's involvement.

Wastn't Norquist's assistant questioned also? I remember something about her always checking with Rove whenever there was something she needed to pass on to Norquist. I could be wrong, and I don't remember her name.

28. Tweety is keeping his involvement VERY quiet.
Edited on Tue Oct-18-05 08:20 AM by crispini
You KNOW with that quote "Wilson's wife is fair game" from Rove, in Wilson's book that Tweety was at least interviewed, but nobody has said ANYTHING about it, and he goes and interviews a zillion people on his show and doesn't say ANYTHING about it.

I think Tweety has a bad case of Judy Miller-ism. For that matter, I think MSNBC has a bit of the same problem that the NYTimes does, it's just not as NOTICIABLE because Tweety isn't in jail.

22. Rumsfeld ....
I'm not hearing a lot of chatter about him regarding this whole investigation.

I don't fully understand the Rumsfeld area. A guy who supposedly tried to resign a few times, but was convinced into staying the course.

Rumsfeld has been an insider for how many years? 30? He's got some power and was right there in the center for all of this run-up to war.

His side of the investigation would seem to be highly sought after. So, why aren't we hearing of Rumsfeld questioning? Maybe he's the target? Or ...maybe Fitz has him nailed down and doesn't need his testimony?

Rumsfeld .....hmmmmmmmm

21. Think you missed one who testified. Good list though.
Susan Ralston. A possible biggie.

http://www.thinkprogress.org/leak-scandal .... Best site I've seen for simple concise information, with photos.

RALSTON IS ROVE’S RIGHT-HAND: ABC News reported on August 2, 2005 that Susan Ralston, Karl Rove’s long-time right-hand, testified before the grand jury. The National Journal reported, “If Karl Rove is Bush’s main man, then it’s Ralston who makes this White House go — because she’s indispensable to Rove.” According to Newsweek, Ralston was suggested to Rove by ethically-troubled lobbyist Jack Abramoff, for whom she previously served as a top aide.

RALSTON WAS ASKED WHY ROVE’S CALL WITH MATT COOPER NOT ENTERED INTO PHONE LOGS: “At one point, the aides were asked why Mr. Cooper’s call to Mr. Rove was not entered in Mr. Rove’s office telephone logs. There was no record of the call, the person who has been briefed said, because Mr. Cooper did not call Mr. Rove directly, but was transferred to his office from a White House switchboard. The aides have worked closely with Mr. Rove, screening his calls and coordinating his activities with other White House officials. Mr. Hernandez had been an aide to President Bush since his successful campaign for governor of Texas in 1994, and Ms. Ralston is known as one of Mr. Rove’s most trusted associates.”

FITZGERALD MAY WANT RALSTON’S TESTIMONY FOR SOMETHING BESIDES COOPER CONVERSATION: “But a person familiar with Cooper’s testimony said that Ralston’s name did not come up during the reporter’s grand jury appearance. That indicates that Fitzgerald may be interested in her testimony for other reasons.”

35. Sorry, it says interviewed "numerous officials from the CIA",
Not sure who or how many made it to the witness stand. I would imagine at least a few to establish backround. Also this article that I have linked to below talks about the fighting between Cheney and the CIA and that particular testimony from CIA officials would definately establish motive.

snip>

The special prosecutor has personally interviewed numerous officials from the CIA, White House and State Department. In the process, he and his investigative team have talked to a number of Cheney aides, including Mary Matalin, his former strategist; Catherine Martin, his former communications adviser; and Jennifer Millerwise, his former spokeswoman. In the case of Millerwise, she talked with the prosecutor more than two years ago but never appeared before the grand jury, according to a person familiar with her situation.
