Bird flu and asthma
Does anyone have any idea whether asthma sufferers had a better chance of survival during the 1918 flu epidemic? Since it seemed to target the young and healthy, I'm wondering if the opposite was true. Just a wild speculation.

1. Anything that compromises the lungs
Could cause added problem, I'd think. This flu can cause the lungs to become fluid filled, I've read, so I'm pretty sure that it will be more difficult for those already having breathing issues to recover. I'm not sure about the specifics of asthma or anything about the 1918 flu.
