Who wants to Petition the NYTimes to Fire Miller and Demand Transparency?

I've been thinking that we have the NY Times on the ropes in a way.. we already know that Miller will leave in some fashion now that she's got her million plus book deal, but the NY Times is COMPLICIT in faking a war, so are the rest of the Media..

BUT how about we combine the folks on say 100 blogs and the DU, get some heavies to sign (Conyers and all the rest of the Reps with SPINES) and HIT THEM HARD..

They are in a precarious situation, they have to carefully choose words, lawyers are combing every word that comes out of their paper.

Miller is now claiming, "Oh gosh, gee, My Bad.." etc, to attempt to gain some spin advantage in perception having already ridden the First Amendment Martyr Pony for as long as possible.

So they are screwed - they CAN'T provide Transparency - or they'll be deemed COMPLICIT, yet they must somehow reclaim credibility.

I think we can jerk their chain and make them an example for what they've done.

And to add to that petition we can state that whoever publishes her book will be subjected to a MASSIVE BOYCOTT by the same petitioners..

I would add that we should pressure anyone who's ever given her an award to TAKE IT BACK.

And let's go right on up the chain of command there at the NY Times and DEMAND the RESIGNATION of a LOT of those people.

AS far as I'm concerned they should be dragged to the Hague along with Bush for War Crimes, but we know that ain't gonna happen.

But we could sure as hell make LIFE HELL for them and maybe show them that the Blogs and American citizens with Brains are NOT going to stand for this kind of bullshit anymore. If we aren't allowed a Fairness Doctrine, then they should be held accountable with the only power we have left - our MONEY.

Let's slam them like Ghandi slammed the textile manufacturers, he brought them to their knees.

It's time for a serious re-adjustment and we need a focal point, and the NY Times is JUST THE ONE TO USE at this point in History.

Imagine a 1000 Blogs all in Lockstep, DEMANDING JUSTICE and Truth from the Media (even when we know they CAN'T Comply..)

Payback is a Motherf*cker, but look at how many have died for the lies that paper spread, and with full knowledge that Hans Blix said there were NO WMD, that Inspections WOULD have worked, that the International Atomic Energy folks said, "OBVIOUS FORGERIES", that MILLIONS Marched against this fake war..

They had options and many chances to tell both sides and they refused, so they need to be held accountable.

What do you think? Can we get the WHOLE WEB and BLOGS on our side, in Lockstep?

that she is complicit in this whole thing, and works for a major newspaper, and they aren't cleaning up their own house.

They supposedly changed things some after the Jason Blair fiasco, but this seems even worse.

9. There's hope in numbers

If you can get Kos, Atrios, Josh Marshall, the guy from the Washington Note (can;t think of his name...), etc. and other big blogs to coordinate some kind of petition you'd have millions of signatures from just a handful of these big Liberal sites.
Who do you know? Start making calls if you do b/c it could be pulled together pretty quick and would draw MSM attention. I am a lowly drone who knows not a connected soul in the blogosphere, but I can add my name to the call for Miller's head!

and it can happen FAST, and believe me, like you said, the MSM would be ALL over it..

Money Talks and Bullshit Walks.. the petition may be virtually meaningless, BUT, the very fact that say a Million or a half a million Wallets and Purses are involved WILL make these greedy bastards sit UP and take NOTICE..
