extraordinary record. Does she really believe her own words.

15. "Extraordinary" is a weasel-word, like "remarkable."
Abysmal failure is 'extraordinary' ... just like anything that's not 'ordinary.' Ted Bundy was an 'extraordinary' criminal. He's 'remarkable,' too ... as is anything about which we make a remark.

4. I'll never forget her pleading with black folks at the Essence awards
that one year...I think it was the Essence awards. Aaron McGruder was there too, and said typical (for him) things about the Bushies.

She got up there to accept her award and said what a good man he was, and blah blah blah. I felt for her actually, because you could tell no one was buying it and she was just so committed to defending that POS...it was sad.

31. Ever notice that she nor Colin Powell are ever asked to attend
any other major African American events or award shows? I think they know that she would be as roundly booed as she was at a Broadway show during the Katrina debacle.

Now I challenge MTP to get an African American civil rights leader on there to rebut Rice's claims. At least Russert got on her case a little bit, citing only 2 percent of African Americans approve of *.

the way he has - he's gone form 51% after 9/11 to 2% - And as someone pointed out 2% is within statical error so it could be Ms. Rice is the only African American Bush supporter.

35. It can't be THAT low!
This isn't The Producers in reverse--where Max Bialystock sold 25,000 percent of Springtime for Hitler.

It's not exactly zero, either. We know Condi Rice supports him. Colin Powell probably still supports him. I know Thomas Sowell will never stop supporting him, and probably Armstrong Williams is still on his side. We'll say three black people support him.

Now, how many millions of black people are in the US?

12. She loves to whore herself out to power, greed, and corruption
She is the literal whore of Babylon. She may escape trial when Bush's term ends, and she may escape justice if her and others are pardoned by the next president, but she will get what she deserves when she stands before God.

13. My favorite line of hers was "I'm a social scientist and until
I see the actual poll, I don't put any faith in those numbers."

How utterly disengenuous of her.

Newsflash "Dr" Rice: I'm a social scientist too, and one thing I can say for sure is those numbers tell you Bush's support among blacks is REALLY REALLY LOW.

Try to spin your way out of that one.

"How do the African Americans YOU know feel about Bush?"

I'm almost ashamed to count her among my race. She doesn't represent our interests or our values.

The only African-Americans Bush has an "extraordinary record" with are people like Condoleez Rice and Alphonso Jackson, which isn't saying much.

Edited on Sun Oct-16-05 11:12 AM by dogfacedboy
like to keep a couple of "Condi-types" around in order to seem "progressive". Female, successful, African-American. Very cynical. It's like a triple-crown with this woman. I view her as an ideological geek. I don't think she does much of the truly evil work. I think Bush has a crew of right wing "intellectuals", and she's a part of that.

43. Here's what Bush doesn't get....
He thinks that by putting a Black face on something, that should earn him brownie points within the African-American community.

I remember he said one time (during the 1st term) that when foreign leaders visit him in the White House, they see him flanked by two African-Americans on his side: Condi Rice and Colin Powell.

As if all that matters is putting a Black face to something. He does not understand that just because someone looks like me and has my same skin color, doesn't mean they represent my interest or my values.

There's a HUGE difference between people like Rice and Powell, and then people like Alexis Herman, Ron Brown and Rodney Slater that President Clinton had in his Administration.

Herman, Brown, and Slater all had a record of promoting issues of concern to their community. They "got it." They understood the obligation that comes with power. And that as an African-American, when you obtain a certain level of power, you have an obligation to help lift your people up. That's why Alexis Herman frequently went on the Tom Joyner Morning Show to talk about what she was doing in the Labor Department, to make life better for African-Americans (i.e. the employment rate).

49. I dont hate Condi
Edited on Sun Oct-16-05 03:46 PM by Me_Shell
I see her as a black woman trying to get ahead. When has a black woman ever had the opportunity that she has? I dont see her as evil. She does not make Bush policy, neither does she have any influnce on his policies. Her vote does not count for anything in this admin. She is just a figurehead. A spokesperson w/ an important name. If she was Prez, thats another thing. I doubt the rightwing would give her that much (if any) power.

48. Because they hate themselves
It also gives them that stepladder to look down on those less fortunate than them. When you have been looked down upon for so long because of your race or sexual preference it feels good to be the one doing the looking down upon; this is what I have observed from gay and black Republicans.

When it comes to black Republicans you have two issues to argue with them about, abortion and/or money. The fundy blacks got their abortion issue the self haters have their tax issues. When these two groups get together and start spouting off it isn't pretty. The white freepers have nothing on these people when it comes to racism. In one breath they say black people are poor because they don't work hard and racism is not to blame ;in the next breath they blame illegal immigration for the hardship of black people. They are unbelievably stupid and without critical thinking skills. Black Republicans are more of a threat to me than white republicans because black Republicans spread their vile in our community.

Condi may have her wealth and all but she has no standing in the black community.

29. And folks wonder why she is not embraced by the Black community!
When one is positioned to represent a subset of a larger group and he consistently asserts points of view in opposition to that subset, he forfeits a right to speak for them. In the face of such clear lines between those who have and those who don't, folks with oil tankers named after them have made their choice regarding which side has their allegiance.
